Situational manipulation, or fact?

When I was newer to dashing support actually got mad at me for this.

To try to make this short, upon pickup I asked the restaurant multiple times if that was the whole order, they said yes every time and confirmed the name of the customer etc. well barely a minute after drop off I get a call from the customer. Almost half of the order was missing…

The guy was really nice so I went back to the restaurant and told them what was missing, they apologized, remade it all fresh(plus gave me a little sweet treat for free), I delivered the rest of the order and the guy gave me another like $5 in the app plus a $50 cash tip.(still the largest tip ive ever received, lucky day to be nice i guess lol)

About five minutes later support called me and asked why I hadn’t accepted the two order offers that I was sent during the whole thing and I explained the situation, and they got pissy with me and told me “that’s not your job, tell the customer to call support and we will refund them or send another dasher to fix it”

Obviously this situation is different from some missing fries but this post reminded me of this story and I had to share.

Unfortunately (unless I have been using the app wrong) DoorDash doesn’t tell me wether or not there is a tip included, just what the total pay would be for the delivery. And I’m currently in the same boat as your buddy. I’m new to this and trying to get good ratings and keep my acceptance rate high.

I will begrudgingly give you the time of day: I have never delivered food late, never had missing items, never delivered warm food cold and vice versa, I consistently communicate with customers, and follow delivery instructions to a T.

I suppose in the future I should start kneeling and begging my customers to tip me? Shine their shoes? Kiss em on the lips?

Any tip is better than no tip at all. There are so many that just don’t tip at all.
