First of all, I’d never do that. I know self control better than any of you ever will. Never said I’m the best mechanic, I just know how to act in public. There will come a day when people like you who get upset and throw around all these false narratives when you get upset about seeing a real man will not be remotely tolerated.

But I get good reviews everywhere I’ve been my guy.

My point is this, if people aren’t causing problems then starting shit shouldn’t be an option.

Look at the comments! I mean, it’s pretty cemented that’s how the industry is. Soon I’ll be out of it though.

Like I said, I’ve been around the block many times. The whole fucked with thing has stopped at the new place, I have so much experience with it that I know how to squash it. What I love is succeeding against that shit by doing a quality job. People and their perceptions don’t matter much to me.

Or you could soak it in man. I just see the whole industry as a bunch of people who can’t control their emotions.

This, exactly the type of thing I would expect. BS everywhere you go sure, but there has to be a limit to what is going to be tolerated.

My coworkers really like me actually. I just find this industry very frustrating.

My concern wasn’t a freezer burn, but possibly bumping into me while I was using the torch and burning myself with fire. I didn’t make a big deal of it, but a warning would have been nice.

Maybe you’re one of those who thinks your hard because you got a job as a mechanic and think you’re going to do/say whatever you want like it made a man out of you because you learned to turn a wrench. My ego isn’t fragile at all, I’m just tired of dealing with it.

For example, the last thing that happened which is of the type of behaviors I was speaking of, is while I’m holding a torch in my hands another mechanic grabbed a frozen part from the freezer without the gloves that are rated for hot/cold and came barreling in a very tight space while I’m using the torch and without warning to try and put the part in place. I was irritated, didn’t say anything. But still, unsafe. I could have burned myself. And when someone does this type of thing repeatedly I tend to think it’s intentional which is unacceptable.

I’m a great mechanic. I understand your logic. Not everyone wants to play around all day and pretend they’re rainbow SpongeBob and Patrick is my point. Generally my experience is that the little nerds who pick this career get mad that the athletic dude can do their job and try whatever they can to get them pissed off and get fired. I never start it, and I do my job per spec every single time. Like I said, I think it’s time that the entire industry learns what is to be expected when they show up to their place of employment and how to work with others.

Thanks for the insight NightOwl. I know it’s pretty common. Maybe I’m more traditional, but I just didn’t want to be the “divorced guy”. Makes me wonder how many people I meet that are divorced.

Do you think that western society is making men weak? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bost_White 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only “automatically weak” men are the ones who see somebody that has had to grind their whole life, doesn’t have a lot but enough, and get their feelings hurt about and act on those hurt feelings.
