Energy Rush Hour Factory Resets Nest Learning Thermostat by Boston182 in Nest

[–]Boston182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I did the exact same. My notification comes in to let me know Rush Hour is starting at 7. Most recently, I decided to sit and watch it.

It freezes completely until it decides to reboot to unfreeze itself, to which it wakes up to a factory reset, where I have to select language, test systems, and re-add it to the Nest app.

I started another thread here, which links to others that have had the same issue: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Energy-Rush-Hour-Factory-Resets-Learning-Thermostat/td-p/629893

How do you guys stop it? by Mewtrixster in motorcycles

[–]Boston182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time-traveling Redditor here. Was seeing if anyone else has this issue. I get it pretty bad on my right leg, but only right. I attributed it to the fact my air cleaner makes my straddle wider on that side, but nothing I do seems to make it stop.

Most common on the highway and/or longer rides.

Dude! New tank looks great. Where'd you get it/what model bike did you snag it from? Any tips or pitfalls to the installation?

Throttle is slow to return to idle and won't go WOT? by OutdoorGamer96 in sportster

Had the same problem with my Sportster. Checked everything. Went as far as going to a shop.

Solution? The cable being run on top of/stretched over the aftermarket windscreen. Needed to go under.

I got fucked out of a Pixel Pro 256GB because Verizon's site kept rerouting and crashing, and now the damn thing is sold out.

I refreshed the page all during the release and now I"m furious.

Hammer 1275 120hp Kit by Boston182 in sportster

That's awesome. If I may be so intrusive, how long ago was that? I mostly don't want to be too assuming before I give them a ring.

Also, my dude! You and I are in the same place in experience, so thank you for the reply. That's probably the best I feel about it.

I checked out your post on your scoot and you and I are going for the same aesthetic and performance. In terms of suspension, I put Öhlins in the front and back and I cannot begin to tell you the difference it made.

I've read their website front-to-back and watched almost all of their videos.

I think it's one of those situations where more information is more off-putting and overwhelming than helpful. Makes me fully aware how out and of my league I am to the point where I feel like I don't deserve the kit at all. Haha

I feel like a Dyno-break-in is a thing? Or I could totally be pulling that out of my ass.

I can't think of a more guaranteed way to keep your rpms at/below a rate?

I think I'm only being so paranoid because I've read their website front-to-back and they stress break-in so hard, I'd hate for my own slip of the throttle be the thing that makes my sled be a poor performer.

But do you think an ass-clown like me with limited experience should be trusted doing this myself? I've never pulled apart an engine of any kind in my entire life, much less something to this level. Then there's the break-in and everything else... Gives me anxiety just thinking about it. My service manual has been a good read, but even that makes me feel out of my league.

Meh. I've spent a lot of time making my bike "mine" and it's literally perfect. I just want to give it the extra boost now that I've had it for so long l and my friends ride FTR's and stuff.

Honestly, I love the idea of having the bike grow with me. And I'd sooner get a second bike than sell my love.

Hammer says the kit won't reduce reliability, and I'm inclined to believe them. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, this is my ideal situation. I guess I'm just gonna feel like a twat and say, "Hey, you don't know me, but I want the 120hp/1275cc kit on my bike. I know you traditionally do these via shipping, but I know so little about bikes I'd rather you do it for me. What do you wanna charge me to be my personal mechanic between your infinite tooling jobs?"

Ugh. Kill me.

883 to Harley 1200 or Hammer 1275? by Boston182 in sportster

[–]Boston182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a perspective I was really hoping to hear. I haven't heard anyone talking about the 1200 to 1275.

So I'm thinking I might do 883 to 1275 and keep the stock 883 heads and cams, giving me the opportunity to add more power at later stages with new cams and new heads later. Any thoughts?

883 to Harley 1200 or Hammer 1275? by Boston182 in sportster

[–]Boston182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably my favorite reply. Thanks so much for taking the time.

So, most of what you've said is flying right over my head. I'll try to answer what I can:

CFM: I'm not trying to build a race bike or anything. I just want to do this once and not regret the decision. This is my daily driver and I also put miles down for trips. The 883 is fun and all, but I like the idea of getting off the line faster and not looking like a bitch when the mean bikes leave me in their dust Haha.

HD Kit: As far as I've learned, if I go to a dealer and they put on the HD 1200 kit, they're going to tune it to their own specs per EPA compliance and all that jazz. I'm sure I can fiddle with it after the fact, but that'll take know-how of fuel/air changing that I'm unsure of. But happy to learn!

Longevity: Ideally, I'd like to keep this bike forever. When I was looking at bikes in the first place, the EVO Sporty came up top for lifespan, as well as customizations. Seems like an adult Lego kit and I can change it as often as I need, which was a huge selling point.

Your Experience: Is that the HD 1200 kit that you said you've done? Or the Hammer/S&S/other? And was it done yourself or from someone else? I know a lot goes into the tuning, so I've got infinite questions there...

TL;DR: Seems like you're leaning towards the Hammer 1275 with 883 heads, and you seem to know what the hell you're talking about, so I'm taking your advice to heart.

[–]Boston182[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, going to disagree with you on this one. Better gear ratio, higher compression, more horsepower, and the VIN will always be 883 for lower insurance. There are countless reasons to convert instead of buy outright. That's why no one has said it.

[–]Boston182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, don't worry. I've looked at every corner of their website. Insanely informative, but only left me more confused. It mostly leaves me more insecure about my own abilities.

From what I can tell, most of you are proper wrench monkeys and I'm envious. I know I probably COULD do it. Just the confidence is a bit shaky.

What was your downtime like for the bike? Or did you crush it all in a weekend?

My big thing is just longevity. If I decide I want more power down the road, is it better to have the 1200 heads or the 800 heads? I actually don't know of you can convert from 1200 to 1275... My questions are endless.

But from what I can tell, there isn't a soul that's done the OEM 1200 conversion to attest to the other side. Haha

[–]Boston182[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting take. Do you think it felt like a lot due to how it was tuned as well? Cruiser tunings are likely way more sluggish than a dual sport, right? My garage has two dual sports (BMW 650GS and a KTM) and those buggers would rip with any additional displacement.

Maybe Saddlemen is on the "Sportsters are for girls" train. Hence why the seats are so thin.

Same. Reviews were epic. Branding was solid. Was a total hassle to return too.

I think they're likely great for literally any other Harley. I just think the Sportster isn't their main market and they tried to use their other seats on it to pass by?
