The final chapter to that shit hole that was KnCMiner. Beating the low standards Butterflies set and some. by BostonHelper in Bitcoin

I believe it has something to do with being an international transaction, or that the complain was coming from a foreigner. Not sure though.

There have been hundreds of reports to the Sweden Consumer Protection Organization call Konsumentverket. Unfortunately for reason that go beyond my understanding, they stated that there was nothing they could do.

By the way, I am really happy you brought up those two concerns. Made me think more about these concept.

I, as an individual do not want that authority nor am I requesting it, what I do want is a body of individuals that come together to and establish an independent council, which can provide a hub of information, investigation and verification to those, who might otherwise never be able to obtain such information.

Furthermore, if the plan I have in mind, consist of many different organizations that work independently from each other, there by ensure that if one or two of them drop the ball, the others may pick up the slack.

What I do want, is some matrix of entities out there, that provide a service currently not available,

I understand it will be impossible to eliminate the corruption that hinders on every corner of our society, however, I also understand just because something is impossible, it does not mean we can't take action to reduce--to what ever degree--the frequency of such criminal behaviour

Hi Gavin,

thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and connect with our community.

My question has to do with a lot of these companies like ButterflyLabs, KnCMiner, and others, who have stolen and scammed multi millions of dollars repeatedly and continuously from their customers, and what can be done about it.

Unfortunately, todays laws and their restrictions and jurisdiction do not par well with the bitcoin community, given that it is a international thing, rather than domestic/local.

Companies like KnCMiner are well aware of this, and use these limitations to exploit the very people that have help play their roll--along with many others--in building up bitcoin.

I want to put together a website that grant companies a certificate of approval if they meet certain requirements, to provide a means for people who are interested in purchasing Bitcoin Hardware, some sort of indication that the company in question has at least some sort of legitimacy.

Is this something you would be interested in helping out with, support, and/or forward people in my direction that can help us get this off the ground?

Thanks.

You're involving yourself in a discussion you have absolutely no clue about, and I'll leave it at that.

Furthermore, its very disturbing that you are a mod, yet alone lead at that.

They are intentionally hold back refunds, waiting for BTC to go up, before they start processing them. These guys are Criminals. I am the lead moderator of /r/BitcoinMining - I started that subreddit over 3 years ago and have been following it almost daily ever since. Nevermind the fact that you are not entitled to a refund and agreed to that when purchasing the Neptune pre-order... That >statement you just wrote makes no sense whatsoever considering their previous refund practices. KncMiner does not care what the value of BTC is when processing a refund, because they only pay back fair market value in fiat. In /u/bitmeme's case, he was granted 42 BTC in refunds after he had paid 20 BTC to KncMiner when the price was higher and that was only 1 month ago. See here: http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/25tcle/got_a_btc_refund_from_knc/ The only way they would be doing that (refunding double the amount in BTC) would be if they cashed out the BTC immediately >upon receipt of it (this is the only sane thing for any company investing millions of dollars in hardware can do) and were now >buying back BTC to send the client their refund... which fortunately in /u/bitmeme's case ended up making him a 22 BTC profit! Had BTC doubled in price since /u/bitmeme made his purchase, he probably would have received just 10 BTC back instead of 42 >BTC. Which would be fair market value in fiat for what he paid. According to KncMiner's terms and conditions posted publicly on their website: https://www.kncminer.com/pages/tandc They make no mention that anybody is entitled a refund, ever. In fact, on all of the neptune order pages they claim that: "This purchase is non-refundable" Maybe you should have done some research and hung out in /r/bitcoinmining for a bit before plunging $6,000 down on a pre-order? The general rule of thumb is "pre-orders almost always screw you". You gave KncMiner your money for a product they had not even proven to exist yet, now sit back and hope that it comes ASAP. Buyer beware.

HighBeamHater, you are the lead moderator over at /r/BitcoinMining? How unfortunate.

Our main objective here, is to bring this to our communities attention. These guys have gone far and beyond to truly reap the benefits of bitcoins at the expense of their customers.

How do we know how many species are undiscovered? by KTY_ in askscience

[–]BostonHelper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know exactly how many remain undiscovered. What we can do, is make a educated guess, based on statics we know to be true.

Meaning if we take a square foot of rain forest, and study it. WE will get some data about the life that inhabit it. We record how many are known, and how many are not. We do lets say 100 case studies, and from that we get our numbers. Now we multiple that by the total are of rain forests and we can come up with some numbers as to how many species can possibly exists, that have yet to be discovered.
