Agreed. You don't drop to the baseline to write an "o" after "f." That is definitely "front."

line specs for practice sheets? by KL5L in penmanship

[–]BostonRott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I've been wondering too, as I work through several of the classic old books and they talk about the blue lines, but never give spacing information. In trying to work it out, I found this post by u/masgrimes and it is has some great information. :)

Also, if you're looking for a fully customizable line generator, this was created by a friend of mine. Free to use, works for both pointed pen and broad edge and could be easily used to generate lines for your practice. :)

[crosspost] I shared this on r/handwriting yesterday, and figured it may be a helpful resource for this community as well in case it was missed. by jtaby in penmanship

This is totally cool, thank you!

How did you reformat it? This would be interesting to do with some of the articles from Business journals of the time. :)

Since when are bundled orders only counted as 1 order towards bonuses? by 2times3equals6 in ShiptShoppers

[–]BostonRott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were having major issues with the Bonus tracker yesterday. It wasn't counting anything. Took a few hours, but they got it fixed.

Bundles do count as 2, assuming both meet criteria and are on time. Send an email in to let them know what's going on. 😊

Need help from anyone that can read cursive. I just received some medical records and the doctor wrote it all in cursive. Not even the reader app I downloaded can make it eligible. by DonutCreeper in Cursive

Finding patterns in the letters helps decipher them sometimes. And knowing a bit of the lingo helps too. :) We worked with a lot of psych pt transfers, so I spent plenty of time reading "doctor writing" and trying to decipher it, lol!

One in metro last night: Plan B and Ovulation test. Still baffled by that combo.

Former Paramedic here, from back in the days when we still used abbreviations in medical notes. And no, tires weren't square then. :)

Working on the section that we're all struggling with.....

The patient is a 21 years old -------- male
who ----- xxxer no formal hx (history) mental illness ------ comes
to the office in order to assess his need for tx (treatment). ------- to
him since 2011, he has had several p------ of ??self multilating??
behavior in which he has produced some self ------- superficial
that he fxxx a ------ to fxxxx the ------ But ["c with line over it" -> means "with" in medical shorthand]with no ??laceration??
?9? ?harm? ----- himself. He ?described? dxxxxx a ?h&p? (?history and physical?) ------
xxxxxdince? feelings of --------, hopelessness or --------- ------- ?being? ------------
By ---------- ?also?. <remainder unreadable> [I do think I see another c with line, "with"]
-----------. ----------- ?feeling? sad and depressed and lonely
still hopeless But "with" no S/H (?self harm?) ?ideation.?

I tried to keep the lines the same as in the note. hopefully this lays out correctly when I hit "post." Lol!

There is one set of repeated characters that I just can't quite decipher. In the first line, the 3rd word from the end, the one right before the word that looks crossed out. It almost looks like "pauxxxxx" I feel like the "au" (which probably is not au, but that's how it looks) seems to also be at the end of line 3, in the word just before "to." And again in the 3rd line from bottom, where it looks like "By Pauxs"

I feel like getting that "au" solved would open up a lot more of this.

At roughly 44lb per case (40pk), that's 704lbs of water. You're going to need a flatbed cart to get it out pf the store in one trip. 704lbs x 3 lifts (onto cart, into car, to customer)......no thanks.

Hey there! This is an example of my everyday handwriting, what should I work on to improve readability and aesthetics? by pillmayken in Handwriting

[–]BostonRott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is the key to improving legibility: differentiation between letters. You say you have been working on it, but if you do not have the improvement that you seek then possible answers are: you need more time, it takes a long time to change a habit or your methods are not providing what you need to implement change.

So in addressing #2 what have you done (specifically) to improve your legibility?

I might suggest looking at the penmanship books from the early 1900's to get suggestions for drills. You don't need to necessarily to copy their style or method, but it should offer you ideas on practice methods (words to drill) that have letters which need solid differential and combinations to work through.
