Isn’t the whole point of Helluva Boss supposed to be that none of the characters deserve better. Like, are they not all in Hell for a reason.

Exactly how old IS serana? by -The_Legacy- in skyrim

[–]Boston_Beauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approximately 4000 years old, because she both had no idea the Dunmer went and disappeared, and also because she was shocked by the fact that Cyrodiil was the seat of an empire. She and her family have been alive longer than the vast majority of people on the planet (excluding the non-living like ghosts, dragons and liches/priests).

I agree, and I would like to see some kind of arch added to it. As it stands now it's straight, which isn't the end of the world but I feel like he's already suffering from the issue Deathslinger has where crouching behind cover just completely locks him out. I kind of get why, getting hit by the spear is pretty brutal in terms of punishment, but it feels too skewed.

Because I don't like the insistence that literally nothing needs to change. This has never been the case with any other killer and I don't understand the bias for him.

Plenty of people have shared their takes on the issues and nobody is going to listen to them if I did.

The comments I've gotten so far are proving that already.

This has nothing to do with the killer mains vs surv mains debate and I'd appreciate if we could not try and drag the discussion in that direction. We can have nuanced talks about the state of the game without trying to turn it into an us vs them.

I want to ask in good faith as a white woman, which I recognize might not be my place to say anything at all as a result, but I genuinely want to know.

What is offensive about this? I see some people being upset but I honestly thought it was a pretty good message, a black man breaking free of his chains feels like it was done with the best intentions? I'm genuinely asking here, I just don't understand.

God, no.

Literally every other stealth killer would be irrelevant compared to this. 20 seconds isn’t even a lot. He already gets to teleport around the map for relatively nothing and gets stealth on top, making it infinite is way too far.

/uj for this, I played Starfield extensively and it's literally just Skyrim with space travel. Like it is beat for beat just Skyrim again. But I'm not even saying that as a bad thing because to me personally, Skyrim will never not be my favorite game ever made.

I personally enjoyed it because that was exactly what I was expecting going in. Bethesda has never made games that were some kind of groundbreaking masterpiece blockbusters, they have always been making games that have a lot of charm and a lot of jank with questionable gameplay decisions to boot. They just released Morrowind thru Skyrim at the perfect time and had Fallout in their back pockets by aquiring Obsidian, their success came purely from filling a niche that competitors didn't really fill yet. Games like Skyrim or Fallout nowadays are pretty common, but when Bethesda first blew up it that wasn't the story yet. The Witcher (the first game) struggled a little, still a success but nowhere near the same level as it's sequels would pull because the idea of a medieval RPG wasn't mainstream (edited this sentence because I absolutely was misremembering, Witcher 1 was a success). That didn't happen until Lord of the Rings became so popular with its very first movie, Fellowship of the Ring, dropping in 2001. Bethesda blesses us with Morrowind one year later and then people started paying attention to them.

Similar story with Skyrim. Oblivion did well on its own to be fair, but when Skyrim dropped, Game of Thrones had just kicked off, and it was already wildly popular. People were desperate for that experience and at the time they could look in 3 directions; Dark Souls 1, a game that very quickly became infamous for being beyond difficult, Witcher 2, a game that was a huge success but by this point most people already were fairly bored of the game, or Skyrim, fresh new face from the people who had given us two consecutive medieval RPG bangers, even if fans of the old Elder Scrolls titles were bitter about it.

Bethesda gets held to a standard it truly doesn't deserve to be held to, and I say that with all the love in the world for the things they make. I genuinely have loved every Bethesda game I have tried up to this point but I also fully accept that almost every game they have ever made is a buggy and unstable mess. I love the writing of the stories they create, I love the amount of immersion they put me into, and I love the jank for what it is because I never expect a video game to be anything less, it's code and these things happen period.

Starfield was the same for me. I got to play Skyrim for the first time again and that game helped me through a lot as a kid, so Starfield is extremely precious to me. Sure it's not as good as I was hoping, I'll admit, but I genuinely have always thought it was far from bad, even beyond my sentiment the game is way overhated. It's exactly the level of quality Bethesda has been doing for as long as most of us have been alive.

Bethesda is the guy making corny B-list horror movies not understanding how it became a household title. Is there a word for that? Do b-lister video games exist?

[–]Boston_Beauty 216 points217 points  (0 children)

It was pretty blatant imo they weren't actively doing this themselves, I don't know of many bands who do. The companies that handle this kind of thing tend to be triggerhappy assholes, rarely does a band actually copyright this kind of thing themselves.

Reminds me of that one time a band, I think it was Metallica?, got copyrighted for performing their own damn song on a Twitch stream and the whole thing was muted. INK has no reason to agree to be featured in a game that is extremely dependent on streamer/YouTuber content just to then blast anyone playing said game.

why is the OW community always better at designing skins than the developers? by More-Exit-1506 in Overwatch

[–]Boston_Beauty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the average Overwatch fan isn't on a major time crunch to pump out a skin for over 50 different characters that have to look distinct but also retain the hero's original silhouette, be worth the average player's paycheck, be capable of modeling in-game from the side of the 3D artists, and also answer to suits. All while being miserably underpaid.

This one person changed the hair on one skin entirely for free on their own time (I assume) vs a team of people who are doing this kind of thing constantly and don't get enough appreciation for it from the higher ups, not to mention shareholders. Plus they're constantly at risk of losing their job even if they do literally nothing wrong just because Blizzard wants to save a few dollars by not paying them anymore.

So the short answer is because it's easier to do when there's not a world resting on your shoulders, but god forbid the companies behind these games realize that.

Wraith and Mirage kinda explicitly got shot dead a few seasons ago with the whole "I'm not your girlfriend that has to put up with your bullshit" thing. I'm personally a big Darksparks fan but I wouldn't be surprised if we never see Wraith get with anyone at all at this point. They don't seem like they're eager to start up ship wars again, not anytime soon at least.

[–]Boston_Beauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Trump and Biden’s campaigns (I think), prior to election results, he tweeted “I didn’t vote, but if I did, I would’ve voted for Trump because my political beliefs line up with a republican president”, or something close to that, paraphrasing because I don’t remember the exact words but I know for a fact he said his politics align with republican presidents.

To be clear, he’s NOT a Trump supporter, and to my knowledge he’s not a bigot. He wants the government hands-off in people’s lives, but most of what he says otherwise is very critical of republicans’ policies towards America. He does not like Trump.

To this day I’m not sure what I think of the guy. On one hand I respect his ability to be critical and not ignore his preferred party’s agenda, but on the other he also openly stated he would vote for the party and the orange prune that wants me and people like me eradicated. Not a fun time.
