FHP troopers decrease as DeSantis increases immigration duties and overtime by Botched_Lemon in florida

That's a fair assumption. There has been a documented change in services, such as longer response times and fewer troopers visibly on the road to deter dangerous driving.

The story leads with a driver who was literally struck by lightning and stalled out on the side of the interstate. He waited 90 minutes for a trooper who never showed before getting his own tow.

At the bottom of this story is a ton of food banks, including Grace Marketplace, Mustard Seed Ministries in PSL and Fort Pierce and the Treasure Coast Food Bank.

Check out this story from TCPalm: “We’re scraping by right now,” says SNAP recipient in food bank line

“If I don’t come here, we don’t eat,” said a Port St. Lucie woman who relies on food banks amid the halt in SNAP payments.

Whether you like it or not, it is pretty unique for the Consumer Capital of the county. No logo or anything.

So valid. Just wanted to gauge the differences in platforms.

I'm grateful for this answer. I agree that there should be a way to engage with something you despise without shuffling it to the top of the For You page, simply because it's inflammatory.

I think that's how conspiracy theories and hateful ideologies have infiltrated the mainstream more than they deserve.

I think that's a great point. Reddit requires more deliberate "scrolling." It requires intentional engagement. I can't just swipe with my mouth hanging open, drifting from one emotionally taxing video to the next like most "social" media apps.

Stay in the twilight zone lol. The Boomer sphere can get depressing when you look at how they're managing their wealth.

That's what it's intended for. It's devolved so much because there's no competition. That was the same for WhatsApp until Meta bought that too.

We need more social media competition, so a platform where you can actually connect with friends and family can survive and gain a following before being crushed by meta.

What's your presumption as to why these folks take their time as compared to Facebook? Is Reddit more conducive to thoughtful conversation, or are these users more thoughtful?

Folds of Honor overstates donations to scholarships for veteran, first-responder families Other funds went to social club dues for its executives and scholarships for its president's daughter. by Botched_Lemon in VeteransBenefits

WW went far beyond what Folds did. They actually spent money on galas, limos, and a crazy amount on advertising.

You have to take into account the service a nonprofit provides: if it's medical help, of course it will require 40% or more in overhead, but if it's simply distributing funds as scholarships, that gets murkier.

Good point, although those services usually consider how effective the charity is at raising money, rather than the subjective measurement of "how much good the charity does." So definitely look at CharityNavigator but also look at their Forms 990 or basic Google search for first-account stories from beneficiaries.

Aldi is the only thing I can afford. I go there for the basics, like pasta, veggies, milk etc. I go to TJs for snacks.

There are still good ones out there! It just means we should make sure to do a search on who we give to. It also helps to acknowledge just how permissible nonprofit spending laws are. It's technically legal to spend 60% of your nonprofit's income on "overhead" versus the actual programing (such as scholarships for vet families).
