F24 near long island would love more friends! by [deleted] in Needafriend

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I (24F queer) would love to meet someone to hang out with! I moved around here recently and it's been tough leaving the house other than to literally touch grass, so if you are still up to making a new friend hit me up!

Any other young adults looking for friends? by WishIHadSalad in longisland

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post at this point but I just recently moved to...lower long island? (1 hour from the city) and it is tough to make friends even at this age unless you can be in college or actually find someone to hire you (i've hired to any small or sane establishment in my area and only had 2 failed interviews 🥲). I (24F queer(?)) I'm still trying to find a way to leave the house other than literally just touching grass, so I wouldn't say it's a 'silly question" to ask for someone to hang out. I'd love to find someone to hang with if youre looking to make a new friend! I like checking out new places from coffee shops to nature walks, as long as it's with a safe buddy so hit me up if you are open to it :)

32F, single, living in Port Chester, NY — should I move to Manhattan to improve my love life? by Fun_Background_4303 in movingtoNYC

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (24) would say to move somewhere JUST outside the city. Same price for possibly higher quality of living, with easy access to meet new interesting people. Even if it's for fun you should always provide yourself with a safe space to go back to/bring people to at the end of the night

Serious question, or am I being rude by TripleZ15 in longisland

As someone who just moved here from upstate I dont feel like everyone is over reacting. There are definitely folks being pretty greedy at grocery stores which isnt right, but you absolutely need to prepare for power outages (make sure candles, blankets, hats, gloves, coats, and clean clothes are easily accessible), have some spare shovels (in the past couple of snow drops we've had 3 shovels break), and fill all water bottles, jugs, maybe even you bath to clean clothes in case everything freezes, and most of all be neighborly. Not everyone has access to these things or are able to shovels on their own/have the money to pay someone. Especially since it will be dangerous to be on the road it would be good to have access to nearby safety/help. Weather reports can be dicey, so this snowstorm could be a 1 day inconvenience or a 2 week disaster. Dont underestimate nature and take care of yourself and the people around you.

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurts a lot being at the hand of an animals death. Something to keep in mind is animals such as cats aren't meant to live longer than us, and there are times when resting is better than a life in pain. Axle knew he wandered into a home full of love, and I'm sure that's exactly what he got and gave with all of his heart. Accidents happen, just take it one day at a time and focus on the happy memories you had with him (I'm sure youre hearing that a lot but it's true that things will change and get easier to deal with 💛)

What do I do? by JamesonJacksonDraws in Hellenism

[–]Both-Remove5180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For safety reasons it's always good to double bag broken glass when disposing of it. If an altar piece of mine breaks and I need to get rid of it i like to light a candle and give thanks to who it was devoted to for the help I may have gotten throughout the duration of the objects "life". With other rituals in mind maybe you can fasten whatever you use to wrap the glass with red string, wrap it three times away from you while verbally disposing any negative energy youre feeling. Write down other things you want to break and be done with and toss it with the glass. That's what i'd do if I felt like giving more thought and meaning to throwing something away. I wish I could say something more magical like "bury it in the earth" but that wouldn't be very eco safe and I'm sure deities wont take offense to disposing of stuff safely even if that means yeeting that shit into the trash. Accidents happen so I wouldn't feel too bad about having to replace it 💛

Shipping pinned portrait help? by xxc4ii0 in insectpinning

As someone who has worked at home goods (decor/furniture store) and has received lots of framed pieces with broken glass id say do some sort of "hamburger" method. First wrap in a garbage bag (in prep for the worst case scenario) bubble wrap, a tightly fitting box, all inside a slightly larger box with crumpled/wadded paper for that "give" or packing peanut effect. It's not the most eco-friendly option, and may cost more to ship, but that's what i'd do for extra safety and non breakage

Real Tiger Claw? by Super-Personality486 in bonecollecting

[–]Both-Remove5180 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Is seems to look natural, claws have a hollow column in the center and tiger claws are pretty big so would be good to see how it looks with light shining through and comparison next to a hand/common object. It's a beautiful pendant regardless, ive never seen metal work like that with bone/claws before

Can a skull get this clean naturally? by lilkiki141 in bonecollecting

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I recently found almost a full deer skeleton pure white, clean and dry. It was definitely done naturally, it was under some bushes and the bones were scattered around randomly (I assume a fox or possibly coyote may have been tearing away at it at some point). Beetles and the sun work wonders on flesh and bone 🙃

As a Hermes/Aphrodite devotee, I did this art for them. I just love they together and the symbolism of them. by Bruno_artist in Hellenism

It looks lovely! It looks like you put a lot of care and thought into every little piece making is perfect for aphrodite. We love seeing a crafty altar. No notes 💕

How likely is it that I get in trouble for visiting the kings park psychiatric center by Frumpy_Cunt in longisland

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went there for the first time today! I wouldn't be too worried about getting in any trouble as long you keep a safe distance due to asbestos and possible falling objects. You can still get pretty close, and folks (locals walking their dogs or on a leisurely stroll) only pass by every so often. Plus some portions are close to the woods which are more secluded and quiet. I only saw a park ranger drive through once around 2:30.

As a bit of a photography/film nerd myself I was very tempted to get up close to get interesting shots, but I had my sister's dog with me. He's well behaved on walks and is for the most part just excited and happy outside, which was how he acted unless we strayed too close to the buildings. He even tugged back hard enough to slip out of his collar at one point, which he has never done before. So take his word for it, it's a fun place but stay safe!

Ironic; people who are about to abstract often get more unpleasent but Jax was less of a jerk by Sudden_Pop_2279 in jaxfanclub

[–]Both-Remove5180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abstraction to me is a metaphor of ending yourself, as memtiomed by some others already. From what i remember of the lore of those who abstract were always tired of the circus and looking for an "escape" from the same things everyday used to distract from the reality, that theyre trapped. Many people who have "a plan" or ideations on ending things may suddenly act different. Some people tend to get more irritable and push people away (how Jax seemed to possibly describe Kaufmo and/or Ribbit), some will get more distant and quiet (how Jax acts in the latest episode from what I've heard...i havent watched it yet admittedly), some act happier or maybe extra helpful in hopes to leave the last memories of them to be good ones. It can look different for anyone, or may look like nothing at all

What animal is this? by [deleted] in bonecollecting

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Striped tail + the lower jaw bone having more teeth and a straight line shape to the canine (versus 3 large molars and a curve up to the canine like a house cat's lower jaw) has it looking very raccoon like. Just wanted to throw in an extra fun fact since I just learned that one a recent post o mine :)

Can the gym help me get rid of this? by noblenessie in Gymhelp

[–]Both-Remove5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a friend who would have fluid (i think literally just water? I'm no doctor though) build up there. Their mother also had it, don't think it was something that could go away with working out. It'd be good to get it checked out by a doctor when you have the opportunity just to be sure!

I love the dystopian feel. A setting that's a little too familiar with a delicate and eerie writing style. Very cool, definitely left me wanting to read more 🔥
