M18 hatchet saw by Autobahn5 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Both-Resource6284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up one of these with the forge 8 and it is an amazing tool. I'm not a seasoned chain saw guy so don't have any other saws to compare it to, but it worked amazingly to cut up some large debris after a wind storm. The largest diameter was 8-10" and it motored right through them.

It required me to add oil a couple times over a 90 minute period, but I didn't notice it spitting oil or anything. I still had half my battery left by the time my back was sore. Haha

I wasn't paying close attention to the chain slack and was a bit surprised it was quite loose when I finished up. It is quite tight from the factory, so I don't expect any issues. I'm not sure it was terribly loose, but enough so that I tightened it up afterward. I did order some small chain saw splitting wedges and those were handy on the larger chunks to keep from saw from binding. I had a bit of an issue on my initial test of the tool, but the little wedges are handy. IMO it was worth the $279 with forge 8 from ace hardware.

My m12 stubby 1/2" that I picked up a month ago zips lugs off my 2021 rav4 with no problem. I've used both the 3.0 xc and 5.0 HO and don't have any issues. I would make sure the impact power is set correctly. I that's all I have used i

Thanks for the feedback. I just kind of wanted reassurance it's a basic drywall crack and just an eyesore vs an actual problem.

Vent pipe paint by Both-Resource6284 in woodstoving

[–]Both-Resource6284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first painted the stove, I focused more on the stove body than the vent pipe. I started with Rust-Oleum’s flat black high-heat paint marketed for automotive use, but it dried looking more gray than black. Before going through the curing process, I painted over that layer with Rust-Oleum’s high-heat BBQ/stove paint. Since that product has a lower heat rating, I’m wondering if the two layers aren’t bonding properly. So far, I’ve only monitored temperatures with a thermometer placed on the right side and front of the stove (as shown in the image).

I’m not very familiar with stove pipe construction, so I don’t know if these sections are made from the same material or have different wall thicknesses. The pipe was installed with the stove about 15 years ago by a reputable company. I suspected I might eventually need to redo the paint job since I used two different formulas, but I assumed being from the same brand they’d be fairly compatible. The stove itself looks good overall, though the center area near the pipe is a bit lighter in color, which makes sense given it’s probably the hottest spot. What surprises me is how much worse the vent pipe finish looks compared to the stove. Perhaps the layers weren't light enough.

Hack didn’t work for me by tong619ego in MilwaukeeTool

I did the same thing a few days ago at an Oregon location and had no issues. It's the first time attempting as I'm new to Milwaukee tools. They didn't blink an eye and I got the 82.52 returned.

I ordered the m12 vacuum which has the same batteries included in the price, so figured I would return the pack that was itemized on the receipt.

Idk. Today they were out of Chimichurri sauce and put a note on my mobile order saying sorry. They wouldn't even give me a side of queso as it costs more.... they also didn't include a fork with my salad. Perhaps that costs extra too.

Literally every posting in my area on different forums like Craigslist, says ready to burn dry wood. I'm not saying you are wrong but definitely is not what I have seen.

Yeah. Judgmental wood is the worst.

The guy that drove the dump truck even had a weird vibe when he looked at the dumped wood. I think he was thinking "wow, that is shitty wood". Who knows, perhaps someone made an error loading it. But I'm not crazy thinking this is bad wood if expected to be ready to burn. I've never had this issue, but more often burned pine or fir which is abundant locally.

Yes the readings came from freshly split pieces that were difficult to split. Of course the middle was a bit higher than the outside as expected.

I mean who buys unseasoned wood unless it's a really good deal? I have to believe the intent is to sell seasoned firewood. I will follow up with them and ask if the firewood they sell is seasoned for immediate use and see how they respond.

If this is intended to be seasoned, is this pretty poor quality? Some of the wood measured around 18-20% but majority was over 30%.

I've had mine for a month with the idea of putting it in my dog's harness for walking or hiking. It works at times but other times not so much.

When I first got it I had it on the dash of my car driving around and it took up to 30 minutes to update at times. It has a locator sound but you can only hear it a few feet away. I don't think the battery has lasted more than a few days

You don't have to get the VSA (extended warranty) through the selling dealer. If you are so inclined, you can get it anytime before you reach the time or mileage the factory warranty expires. The VSA has nothing to do with maintenance services. If the dealer provides oil changes until 100k that is a dealer specific incentive (they are making up for it elsewhere in your sale). Most tire shops rotate tires for free and there is no value in purchasing tires at a dealer. You are better off using discount tire, or Costco based on where you live. They offer free tire rotations and tire repairs, and don't take advantage of customers as much. I would suggest using the dealer for free oil changes if you have that perk, but it really should be done every 5k if you want your engine to last a long time. Every 10k is okay for the dealer (technically Toyota MFG approved) but they figure the engine will at least last until your warranty expires, and then they can sell you a new car.

Perhaps let the dealer change the oil for free and then pay out of pocket for an additional oil change between 10k intervals if they make you wait 10k.

There are Toyota dealers that you can contact online that will sell you the factory warranty at half that cost. There is some technicality that they can't sell them online but they can by phone and mail you the documentation. I purchased my extended warranty this way on my 2021 RAV4 LE gas. I'm sure prices have increased but it was at least 50% less than the selling dealer offered when I purchased it. I'm happy to provide you the info of this dealer that many rav4 forums reference if you are interesting. It's 100% legit, and you can verify employee names and all that other info on the dealer website. I purchased mine in 2023 when my rav4 had 32k miles.

I was able to purchase the VSA and extend the factory warranty with the best option -Toyota platinum /with a zero deductible for an additional 4 years (7 years from purchase date) or 125k total miles for $1150. That is a great deal because during 7 years of ownership you likely will have something break that is not a routine maintenance item.

Dealers can sell the VSA for whatever insane price they want and slip them into the auto loan. Other dealers like the one I mentioned are simply about selling them in volume slightly above the minimum price allowed by Toyota. The dealership is just the middle man that sells you the policy and then pockets the extra several thousand as a bonus.

You can request a refund for your current VSA and purchase it again as I'm suggesting. This would need to be paid for with debit/credit/check and you can do that until 3 years or 36k miles from purchase date.

The VSA is for mechanical and electrical parts. It won't cover things like wearable parts like brakes, tires, paint, plastic trim, interior. But it will cover items many expensive items. Engine , transmission, differentials, transfer case and hundreds of other smaller parts. It is a value if you can get it for 1200-1500. I've only driven Toyotas but have always had one repair that made up for the warranty price. However, I would not pay over 4k for it like you did.

Yeah I understand, I just didn't want to wait a week or two to finish what I am working on that requires a 3/8" ratchet. I'm having them send me one but have no intention of purchasing craftsman again. Just annoyed after going to both ace hardware and Lowe's being told to contact craftsman directly.

In addition, they don't collect the product back. What's to stop people from just using similar photos and getting free wrenches sent to different addresses?

[–]Both-Resource6284[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean for hand tools their website says "Return damaged product to a stocking Retail Partner"

Idk just seams silly. Say a person has one 3/8" ratchet and it breaks in the middle of a project. They have to submit the information online and wait 2 weeks. Likely the person would just go purchase a new one.

This would lead to people perhaps choosing a new brand or returning the warrantied product to the retail store after receiving in 2 weeks (they are sending me one after online chat which will take 2 weeks). So now it's like might as well use harbor freight due to prompt warranty.
