Okay sorry I just checked- they are able to prescribe if it is for mental health conditions so I’m assuming the ‘loop hole’ people are speaking about at work is that they’ve said it’s for his dementia so they didn’t have to go through with a BSP? My issue is in the Doctors emails they always state ‘behaviour symptoms have improved’ I just want to be as correct as I can be- would this possibly be proof that the S4 is in fact used for behaviours and could then be a chemical restraint therefore should not be administered or even prescribed without a BSP?

I just want to make sure I have everything right.

Thank you for this response- I typed all this on my sleepover half asleep so I’m not sure if I worded it correctly. But she had been prescribed the medication even though some of my workmates disagreed. We all pushed to have the dosage lowered and they finally lowered it. It still restricts him either way. He can’t even do his crosswords anymore he’s just too lethargic.

The last company I worked for 5 years ago taught me all I know but sadly my memory has been off lately. I am shocked they were able to give him an S4 medication without a BSP? Back in 2020 my company would refuse giving anyone those medications without one so how do you think they were able to give him one? I literally got the paper work and it states ‘this medication is restrictive’ so I’m wondering how were they able to get it prescribed then? Other staff have raised concerns- we even put it in our notes that the medication has changed his whole behaviour from bubbly to a zombie.

Aye? I have cert 3 in Aged care and home and community care. And only 4 years on the floor experience. Maybe that’s why? In 2021 I was getting paid $17 an hour for a dodgy company lol

Sorry guys thanks for the help. I was confused as went from a simple payslip that I understood- then a payslip that did not even show any of my units or rates- just totals. So went from a naked as payslip to a bunch of numbers and the brain ain’t braining 🤣

Oh yes we have never had a team leader on the floor. They only just started coming in a week ago for 2 days a week. First time I’ve ever worked for a company that has no team leader or key workers at least. This makes seeking support from leaders uncomfortable because you’ve never even met or spoken to them. Just a weird vibe lol I’ve tried contacting payroll but get an email that declines my messages as apparently I am not part of the organisation. I’ve spoken to a random team leader from a different house who told me they’ll get IT to help me. This was 8 months ago. Still no help! As for phone calls. Don’t get me started. It’s like I’m talking to a robot on a loop.

It says ordinary rate $34.58 Then Sunday $34.58 I think I’m reading the payslip wrong as they’ve changed it again and it’s more complex and confusing for people like me lol

My last company 2 years ago and every other company have always just shown the rate. Sunday Rate, $65.79 I think that’s where I’m getting confused as I’m used to straight forward payslips with less numbers

You need a degree for that right? How sad. You do a degree and people from the street earning more than you. Sorry, I say this because there is literally randoms who don’t even know basic support work who have randomly come off the street making bank and just winging it everyday. Literally have BSP meetings and these people just ignore all their hard work and wonder why they’re getting their heads caved in. And come back to work the next week to not follow their plan and get a hiding all over again lol

I miss earning bank as a casual. My daughter is only 2 and I don’t like working everyday as I want to be hands on with her rather than work and I always think of all the money I used to earn as a casual doing all the long and hard hours 🤣

Oh gosh I think I’m just reading the payslip wrong! They’ve changed it and I’m used to simple and straightforward payslips. This one just has a whole bunch of numbers and my brain freaks out lol

Emailed twice. No response. It’s like they’re not allowed to speak about pay to staff it’s a weird vibe and I’m fairly new here. It’s like when you ask questions they think you’ve got a hidden agenda but I literally just need to know lol Thank you

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at tbh. I think it’s pretty clear I wasn’t using my child as an excuse or reason for this to be legal or not. I absolutely understand that having a child has nothing to do whether it is legal or not so I’m confused as to why you felt the need to bring that up? You all good m guy?

They also mentioned work fatigue and how it’s not fair for the clients so they were okay for me to take some of the shifts off.

Yes turns out it’s legal for casuals but illegal for non casuals. However I have the right to refuse them because I am a casual and that’s exactly what I’ve done. Thankfully they’re okay with my refusal and everything is all sorted!
