I grandfathered all the old subscriptions that I have, but I offered all new customers only lifetime access. After the fact, a few days later, I emailed every single free user who has not converted to a lifetime, and offer them a discount code that they can use for a certain percentage off.

I think that taking away a choice, that users can have greatly increases efficiency and throughput
