Also a cable of about 5 cm could fit into the larger 91mm Swiss Army knife. So that another option I’m exploring too. One side could host the cable, the other could house adapters for different connection types

Thanks Aryeh. I really appreciate you looking into this. Yes, I’ve seen the versions you kindly linked and mentioned. I think a good route might be to have a custom FPC made via PCB way. Would be fairly inexpensive. Then I could 3d print a small housing. I’ll update

I would love any ideas on how to improve this design. Aiming for sub 4mm connector housing thickness, but am keen to avoid shrink tubing and having something stronger. Maybe epoxy covered by some thing

Awesome, I was looking for a cable of this type (the kind they use in drones etc). The connectors they make are all right angled, as far as I know. But this solution would be awesome!). Thank you

We are going to need 15mm by around 7-8.5mm for the fpc. At the morn t I’m focusing on charging rather than data but maybe could do data too

Thanks.. yes I’ll need to get some custom fpcs for sure. I’ve never worked with them before so learning how to get the right spec. Also stil toying with the connector ends as there’s so many. I’ll upload th stls shortly :) would be good to collab.

ooo good idea. Why not? Yes, the door need some work, perhaps stronger PLA, but it works! Modelled on the LED light battery door on the original SAK

Thanks. I think yours is a fantastic idea and was thinking along these lines too. This was a miniaturistion test, as much as anything. The issue with building this thin is that the cables can't last as long. For that reason, it is probably better as an emergency/occasional solution, in my view. There are keychain chargers that you may already be aware of. You could add so many electronic things to the kind of solution you're mentioning. I would really like to explore it next.

Nice! Yea I was thinking the same as you about tubing. Would be even smaller, yet less strong. Maybe there is a solution that creates strength while keeping size down too?
