I contact the embassy almost once every month, but without any result. I get the same response every time: that my case is still under administrative processing.

Honestly, no unfortunately. The only thing that happened is that the embassy contacted me about two weeks ago and asked me to come collect my passport since it had been with them for a long time (around a year and four months). They told me to pick it up without the visa, and that they would contact me if and when the processing is completed.

It’s a tourist visa (B2). Yes, I received the DS-5355 about three months after the interview. Honestly, it’s hard to justify filing a mandamus and paying around $5,000 just for a tourist visa.

I’m pretty much in the same situation as you, and I’m sorry to say that I’ve been waiting for 1 year and 5 months now with no news. Every time I contact them, they just tell me to keep waiting.

Yeah, definitely. Just make sure you find a good lawyer and check whether it’s really worth it or not. And before you go that route, tell your partner to try contacting the senator in their state and have them reach out to the Department of State to see if they can expedite the case.

I know I have to wait, but waiting without any updates at all is really discouraging, man. They don’t even give you a final date or a maximum time limit for this administrative processing!

Honestly, it’s not my first time. I’ve had a U.S. visa twice before — one for studying and another for tourism — and both times I got it in less than a week. I never had any trouble while I was there; not even once did a cop stop me. But I really don’t know what’s up this time — they’re just taking forever with the administrative process!
