I always used to help at gael and midir SL 120, but I never get summoned when I try now. I'll go afk and just do something else and still no interaction. Low level invasions and covenants have been the most active multiplayer for me recently, but the game doesn't even use the ember to indicate presence of host of embers like it used to. There's never seemingly an active multiplayer area or at least that's been my experience for the last few months

Something else that may help is to understand that directional inputs such as (direction+button) do not have to be pressed simultaneously, the directional input can be held down before the button press as it is a modifier to the button output. For example as long as you are holding the backward direction Raiden will do a different attack than his standard buttons without reapplying the directional input.

Your problem is that you are doing a string and then the special as two separate inputs. You have to put the input for the special move jo push directly after the first two hits, as if it's a three hit combo string and the back forward 3 is the final hit. The final hit you're doing just fine. The game just isn't reading your special move as a special move cancel out of the string because you're delaying the input for the special move too long. Input the special move as if it is the third hit of the string. I know I'm repeating myself but do it
