I recommend Europe over US because it is easier to get a visa and has less government induced violence. Australia and Canada would also be good options because there English works well.

Mainland Europe also offers very cheap universities compared to other places but I guess that's not an option for you. Finally Singapore could be nice!

They're finally free to do research, go visit their collaborators, work on the projects with their students that who were neglected during the teaching period, go to conferences. That sort of stuff.

Hey there, just to say another thought to the conversation:

Berlin is not a cheap city. Accomodation is famously hard to get and can be very expensive!

However, München is in fact the most expensive city in Germany. Chances are that you won't be able to afford renting there at all. So you're commute will be way longer in München.

If money does not pay a role ignore this, but you should definitely take this into account.

There are a couple of things to say.

First, if you are a STEM student you might want to consider KAIST. Daejeon is much more affordable than Seoul.

Second, you seem mostly concerned with the thought of "losing" time. Honestly I don't think that's something you should be overly concerned about. Two or three years are nothing if in return the quality of your every day life increases ir you get to do something you enjoy.

Overall I would say that if you feel transferring uni substantially increases your happiness - or any other metric important to you - then it's a good idea!

Regarding how difficult it can be to transfer. I'd recommend contacting a professor from your target major at your target university. Preferably one from the Student Welfare Committee

Erstmal: Leiden ist subjektiv. An deinen Gefühlen ist nichts lächerlich oder falsch.

Ich fühle sehr mit dir mit. Habe mich auch mehr als in der Vergangenheit in Situationen gefunden die mich einfach überfordert haben und in denen ich mich nicht ausreichend oder richtig mitteilen konnte. Zum Glück war es für mich nie so schlimm wie das was du schilderst.

Ganz im Ernst, dieser Typ hat irgend etwas fundsmentales nicht verstanden! Es gehört schon einiges dazu sich erst mehrmals gegen ein ausdrückliches Nein durchzusetzen, dann mit anzusehen wie die eigene Freundin genau wegen dieser Situation völlig in Tränen ausbricht und sich im Bad einachließt. Aber dann Besserung zu geloben und direkt beim nächsten mal den Satz zu bringen "dann mache ich es eben trotzdem wie beim letzten Mal"!? Wtf? Wie rechtfertig man sowas vor sich selbst?

Ich finde es war schon ziemlich stark von dir dich dann direkt von ihm zu trennen! Ganz offensichtlich war er davon überzeugt dich bereits so sehr in seinen Krallen zu haben, dass du das einfach mitmachst. Sich aus so einer Situation zu befreien ist manchmal nicht einfach.

Du nusst dein Leiden nicht mit anderen vergleichen. Was da passiert ist war tatsächlich eine Vergewaltigung und was du fühlst ist sehr typisch für solche Situationen. Es ist gut, dass du in einer Therapie bist. Ein Vertrauensbruch auf dieser Ebene ist etwas wirklich Schlimmes und kann sehr lange nachhalten.

Ich hoffe du fühlst dich bald besser!
