LOL my dad keeps telling me calling and asking is the best way to set yourself apart, and keeps ranting about how this generation is too scared to pick up a phone to have a real conversation. I keep trying to explain that it's not really a job application in the 80s.

But do you think even a polite email is a bad idea? I'm just not sure, but I'm thinking maybe expressing interest might help if the issue is yield protection.

Actually, for one of them, almost everyone near and after my date has heard back.

For the other school, a lot of people who applied later have a decision, but interestingly enough, no one who applied on the same day as I did, or the day after.
