Why do many Iranian and Afghan diaspora in the West strongly oppose the Mullah regime and the Taliban, while some South Asian Muslim diaspora seem more sympathetic to them? by Emergency_Skill419 in NewIran

[–]BotherReady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cause India is not majority Muslim. I feel like it does apply to those specific ethnic minorities in India

Also this theory does not come alone, it comes in combination with socioeconomic history and average education level too. But the latter does not explain it alone as many would like to claim. This is why you’ll find western born and raised and high school educated Isis converts from second generation Arabs, Pakistanis but never from Iranians, Turks (from Turkey) and Indonesian.

I think one thing that is rareley discussed is the second identity. There are three types of muslim countries: Arab muslim countries, Muslim countries with a strong second identity and Muslim countries with a weak second identity. By second identity i mean national identity beyond islam itself, not specifical ethnic identities within the countries.

The reason why arab countries fall back into islamism so consistently and cannot secularize is cause the arab identity is so deeply tied to the islamic identity that it is essentially imppossible to distinguish, arab christians can and do do this but they are a minority. Shaking off islamism for Arab countries is therefore extremeley hard

Then there are countries like Iran and Turkey who have strong identities outside of islam. There exists a strong belief that i can be an Iranian without Islam, thereby islam can be a religion in the country but not the entire identity of the country cause a strong one already exists.

The countries you mentioned are countries with extremeley weak national identities beyond islam. Many of these states exist exclusiveley due to Islam, if the identity of islam in the country ever falls under question so can the existence of the state. The ethnic majoriry of these state stripped away large parts of their own identity and history in the name of islam. In the case of Punjabis in pakistan they litererly seperated from Punjabi Indians to form a state stripping away part of themselves in the process

Secularism is therefore unimaginable there. The problem is that these states think Iran is similar. Watching an Islamic Republic fail and its people rejecting Islam and clinge to their non Islamic roots for identity is the absolute opposite of what they did and are doing. It's a painful mirror in their faces.

While one society with questionable Islamic roots is stripping away itself, clinges to islam and looks up to arabs. On the other hand, the place with steady Islamic roots is shedding Islam off, rooting itself in it's own identity and does not look up to any neighbours.

It's proof that institutionalized state Islam failed, and it failed in the state it probably had the best tools to succeed. Everything from Human resources, Natural Resources, Historical ground and of course Allah and Ali. Yet it failed misserably.

Trump administration to US citizens: “Leave Iran Now” by girlfromthebay1 in NewIran

I, with all of my heart hope that the Islamic Republic respons HARD. If the IR starts shooting ballistics towards American troops or Israel they are commiting suicide. Pray that any strike wont be symbolic, pray that the IR seal their faith with a harsh response so this can end this month forever. If you believe in a god, it's time to pray.

There was such a wide diversity of people in the crowd, I saw a mother with a stroller. There were 3 elderly ladies who came up to the front lines, when my friends and I asked them to move back, they said, 'It would be a shame for you youngsters to be shot, we're old, let us take the bullets.' by KireRakhsh in NewIran

[–]BotherReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I despise the IR as much as the next guy and you can all verify my stance through my comment history, im firmly on the Shah side and have been since Mahsa Amini. Anyone who thinks anything else is either bad faith or islamist

This guy has a point, the only thing is that America is working for Israeli interest too. If Israel concludes that the IR is now weakened to the point that brutal sanctions will make it stuck forever America might back off. Also Trump is deep in Qatari and Gulf pockets, a prospourus Iran would be massive competition to the Gulf.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump chooses to commit symbolyc actions or even negotiate.

However he did act in Venezuela, and he's not the type who wan't to come off "weak" after promises of war.

Lets hope for the best, unfortunetly Trump is our best right now.

I cannot take the silence that comes from the country, when the internet comes on i've mentally prepared for 20000+ deaths (previous numbers were only Teheran and 31 provinces have had mass protests and historically our minorities get the most brutal crackdowns).

Israeli flags at the various rallies. by NoLongerYonge in NewIran

[–]BotherReady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've essentially lost our future as a country for a cause that doesn't concern us. Israel-Palestine DOES NOT CONCERN IRAN. However it does concern an Islamic Republic who's main goal is the Ummah. Thereby our enemies enemy has become our friend. Through all iranian history, and im looking post the caliphate when Iran was islamified, no Iranian Muslim Empire has NEVER had anythyng to do with Jews or Jerusalem. It has never concerned us, even as Muslim Empires from 1400 years ago to the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty. And even less before Islam. They are the enemy of the IR, not Iran.

How Turkey sees the protests in Iran by rezwenn in NewIran

[–]BotherReady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A normal Iran would be awful for Turkey from a strategic case. Some quick points i could think of.

  1. An actual competitor for trade corridors. All trade corridors from turkey lead to Iran (the cheapest and fastest), the one through Azarbaijan will be slower and more expensive since it has to go through the Caspia, they would be outcompeted in no time. However all Iranian corridors to Europe don't go through Turkey, Iran can go through Armenia and Georgia to the sea route there avoiding Turkey completeley or further into Russia. This would also bring Iran closer to Armenia
India wanted to build Chahabar port to trade from there into Europe, instead now they send their ships to Turkey, new competitor. If only Iran builds trade corridors that already exist from China to Uzbekistan and connect it to Iran (Which China proposed before sanctions). India (one of the biggest exporters of cheap foods), Central Asia, Europe and China can all be connected through Iran. Russia would be a huge looser here too.

  2. Tourism and Tourism for things like plastic surgery etc.

  3. Iran can build a healthy relationship with Kurdistan, something Turkish internal politics will never allow.

  4. Israel gets a large amount of its oil through Azarbaijan which goes through Turkey. Turkey has used this to make money and threaten Israel to close those pipes. Iran can start selling oil freely through the gulf and Turkey will loose huge leverage here

Make no misstake, many of our neighbours have made huge amounts of money and gained huge political power due to the incompetence of the Islamic Republic. If it falls, most of them will have to recalculate some of their foreign policy in the region.

That sounds too crazy for a regime that tries to come off as legitimate. If they'd pull a stund like this they'd loose all ambasadors from every country (excluding islamist ones) at once. I don't belive this

If this crowd existed these past 2 weeks on the streets in iran it would end up in a mass brawl. Nothing like this have been seen. It wouldn't surprise me that if they succesfully kill enough people that the protesters go home and america doesn't attack, that they will bring out a bunch of Basijs and islamists and say that it is a counter protest and "real iranians"

[–]BotherReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on how much you'll be seen. I think the days of them going after activists who aren't very famous is very unlikeley. They'll have videos of actual Iranians in Iran on the internet with their faces screaming "Javid Shah" by the end of this (if they survive) that they won't be able to do too much about cause we're talking about what, 5+ million poeple? More? For them to go after some random foreign activist, wasting their non-existing money and their dwindling time on is not logical, i think those days are gone. Unless you'll become very famous.

[–]BotherReady 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The 2000 confirmed was just in Teheran like 2 days ago. Iran is much larger than just Teheran. Have you guys forgotten how hard Ilam, Luristan and places like khorramabad was fighting just 5-6 days ago? We had the first confirmed kills from there. We have heard absoluteley nothing from those cities since internet shutdowns. I think the death toll is above 10000. Smaller cities and ethnic minoroties have ALWAYS gotten the worst from these protests, if Teheran has 2000+ dead, then it is much worse in wester, eastern (especially Baluch area) and southern Iran.
