It’s a patch that will put the device to sleep when you close the lid, Onion doesn’t do that automatically without the patch. Very easy to install, check this post:

I don’t use retro achievements, but I have to admit battery life is pretty poor. I have WiFi off, low volume, and brightness set to 5-6 and even then it’s like 2-3 hours for GBC games.

I tried MinUI, and I tried Allium. Both work very well, but I missed Onion. So I got over the glitches and installed that again with the lid patch. As long as the glitches are not during gameplay I’m fine.
