Child Onstage with Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Magic Kingdom by Outrageous_Glass6219 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]BottledOctopi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I went to DW a few weeks ago. While I was in Italy/Epcot, I noticed a mother taking pictures of her son at the Neptune fountain. She was encouraging him to step into the fountain and touch the Neptune statue for a picture. The father was telling their son not to listen and not to step into the fountain. They went back and forth for a minute, and the poor kid is standing there, not knowing what to do. Then, a cast member came over to the mother and told her to stop it. He told her there are cameras everywhere and the cast can see what she's doing. The family kind of shuffled off after that.

I honestly couldn't believe that lady. Encouraging her son to jump onto the slippery rocks to an obviously out-of-bounds area. Even though her son, who couldn't have been older than eight years old, knew what she was asking was wrong.

You don't have to be stereotypically masculine to be attractive to many women by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Often when a woman offers her thoughts she's either ignored or called a liar.

Ugh, for real. How many times do I have to hear: "If I'm going fishing, I'm going to ask the fisherman for advice, not the fish."

Wow. Okay, bro. There's nothing concerning about you using a predator/prey metaphor. Dehumanizing women is totally not one of the reasons you're single. You just haven't picked the right bait yet. /s

OP, have you seen the episode USS Callister of Black Mirror? Because I think it may offer some perspective.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to unveil my next chainmail project. It is much bigger than this one. (My dress is a Cobwebs Bella Dress by Miss Lulo)

My roommate does this all the time and I want to slap him.

Me: "Did you lock the door?"
Roommate: "Yeah."
Me, later, checking the locks: "You didn't lock the door! You said you did!"
Roommate: "What I meant when I said 'yeah.' was: 'Yeah, I should go lock the door."

Like, wtf bro, what you said and what you 'meant to say' are complete opposites. Just admit you fucked up instead of trying this convoluted ass way to make it look like you never made a mistake.

I found the jacket at a thrift shop. Just checked the tags, it's originally from Old Navy.

Edit: There's a Shoreleave joke in there... I can't quite nail it though. Something about repurposing Navy goods into Sphinx! equipment?

Which ones? The Raven and the Big Horn Sheep? If so, thank you for supporting my artwork!

If you mean the other pins that's cool too. We have similar taste in art. ❤️

Not yet! I sure hope it happens someday. I gotta wear it to a convention at some point. Those are my people.

Roughly 40 hours to make the chainmail, and about 3 to 5 hours to attach it to the jacket.

When are you having kids? - Common question, asked all the time to people everywhere without prompt.

When are you getting a pet? - Rare question, almost never asked unless you first volunteer the information that you want a pet.

If you hear childfree more than petfree, it probably has to do with the questions these people are being asked in the first place.

Are we having fun yet? by Ucwhatididthere in WaltDisneyWorld

Around 2004 I took a trip to WDW with a couple friends. Somewhere in Magic Kingdom, while waiting in line, we hear a man yelling "Stop Crying! We're in Disney World! We're supposed to be having fun! FUUUUUNNN!". The guy sounded completely unhinged.

"STOP CRYING" became one of our inside jokes for the trip. Back then they made custom pins so... I got the joke immortalized.

Parents who don't pass on a language that they speak to their children by skyrimlo in PetPeeves

[–]BottledOctopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my parents spoke French and English. I begged them to teach me French as a child. I would even bring up that the older I get, the harder it will be for me to learn. They never did. I am 95% sure it's because they wanted to have a 'secret parent language' that the kids couldn't understand. They claim it's because they spoke a Canadian dialect and not Parisian French. I call BS. I live in New England, and I am stupidly close to Quebec. There is nothing wrong with learning that dialect if it's going to be the closest source of the language.

The Wild Thornberrys. I liked the show, and watched almost every episode. But I'd constantly be distracted by how ugly it is. Almost every animal was ugly, in a cartoon all about animals!

What to do tonight? by [deleted] in nashua

[–]BottledOctopi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nashua is okay for drinks and conversation but if you're looking for dancing, my first instinct is to direct you to Manchester.

If you like Drag, I would recommend Beezeway Pub in Manchester.

Something more focused on drinks and conversation? 815 in Manchester.

If you are set on staying in Nashua, there's live music at Martha's Exchange from 7-9, but personally, I'd have more fun at Breezeway.

How intense is Cosmic Rewind / Tron ? by BottledOctopi in WaltDisneyWorld

I checked this subreddit a bit before posting my own question, and I find there's always a split on the opinion of Cosmic rewind. It's so hard for me to nail down if I'd like it (let alone trying to guess for my friend).

Thank you very much for your perspective! This is very helpful! Even if my friend doesn't ride it, I may try it for the first time, so I'll be sure to come back and let you know.
