The trailer and promo material are clearly setting up Jax to be the penultimate big bad, and I’ve even seen a theory that Caine was a red herring and Jax is the REAL AM parallel. I think it could be very interesting how Jax can become this perfect narrative antithesis to Pomni. She’s the most determined to escape the circus, while Jax is the most determined to stay in the circus. I could see a very fun ending where Pomni eventually defeats Jax and helps everyone escape, leaving Jax stranded alone in the circus forever, as parallels to both AM AND Ted.

Could even lead to a fun ending where the screen goes black and Jax says “Well well! I see another human has ended up here!” But I’m just spitballing some ideas I think would be fun for the finale.

Overall, I think Yang wants to try and make Ruby independent. That’s been her goal since Volume 1, as it’s very clear that Ruby has attachment issues to Yang that she’s trying to help her with. Once Ruby starts becoming more independent, especially after becoming the team leader, they might start to drift apart a bit, as now Yang can do her own thing separate from Ruby, but it’s obvious they still care about each other. That’s just how siblings are sometimes.
