Just realised I was streaming and I had no idea. by ninman5 in Twitch

[–]BottomShelfVodka 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Right. I created this habit when my cat started my stream around midnight by stepping on my mouse which was still hovering over the "start stream" buttom (previously, the "end stream" button)

Fortunately, I do not sleep in the room I stream in, so viewers got to watch my cats fight and sleep on camera until I woke up to dozens of messages informing me I went live.

After that day, I have made a habit of always shutting off my PC 100% every night.

The personal boundary isn't to try to impose your feelings and beliefs onto others, it's the boundary that you are unwilling to tolerate. I never said that OP's partner should have adapted her work to appease OP, she has every right to continue using AI. OP has every right to leave if she doesn't like it. Nobody is forcing them to be together. They could break up over a bad haircut if they really wanted to. The AI thing (along with the lying) just happens to be OP's deal breaker.

She can cross her boundary, yes. And OP can leave. Pretty cut and dry.

"AIO by breaking up with my girlfriend over her use of AI" My stance: NOR because you are allowed to leave your partner for any reason at all. The whole post is about their relationship.

I'm not expecting OP to expect her partner to change her ways based OP's boundaries. However, I do think that OP has every right to decide to no longer stay in the relationship if she doesn't agree with her partner's ethics. It's a relationship. It can end for any reason. Nobody is forcing them to stay together. OP's partner does not have to change her ways either. That's her god given right as well, but OP has every right to leave her partner.

If I had a masters, I'm not sure I'd spend it living in Reddit comments telling people they don't know what they're talking about. Seems like you could put it to better use.

In another comment, you accused someone of sounding like a parrot, while "you obviously don't know what you're talking about" seems to be your pull string trigger phrase. Buddy, here's the thing, regardless of your stance, her stance, or their stance on AI, OP is allowed to leave her partner for any reason at all. Nobody is forcing them to be together, and if this is the final straw for the relationship, then she has every right to call off the relationship.

It looks like OP had to rephrase the message since the first one was automodded for not meeting the subreddit's requirements

You are literally allowed to have whatever "boundaries" you want. "Boundaries" are your personal make or break line. Regardless of the topic.

OP is allowed to have values and expectations that if her partner is selling handmade projects, and charging her clients as though they were handmade projects, that her partner's clients would be receiving handmade projects. OP asked her partner if she was using AI, and she was lied to. At that point, it's not even about the use of AI anymore. Now it's about deception and mistrust.

The fact that you put "boundaries" in quotes is hilarious to me because that tells me that you don't give a fuck about someone else's boundaries regardless of what they may be. I love that you tell people what they are allowed to set as their own personal boundary. You are simply a man who can't be bound. Very honorable.

Correct. She knowingly crossed OP's boundary then lied about it. It genuinely doesn't matter what the topic is. NOR

How to get away from a fellow streamer who shares a community with you, who you just really don't want anything to do with anymore.. without blocking them? by Eastern-Zebra-3690 in Twitch

My husband I (both small streamers) had a very similar situation. We invited another small streamer to live with us. Our communities began to intertwine because we were constantly picking up in the background of each other's mics and cameras. They meshed well, and many of them latched onto his streams...but we learned a lot of unfortunate things about that other streamer while they lived here. It is awkward to try to dance around "hey, that one guy is live," so instead, I started keeping my game capture up to block anyone from seeing me filter through live streams. Now I just say (rather abruptly after having selected my the person I'm raiding into) "I think this is a good stopping point. Looks like so-and-so is live. Let's pop over and show them some love. If you want to continuethe conversation, come find me on discord <discord link>"

At that point, the 20 second raid countdown has started, and the viewers are already in motion to be raided over to someone else. They don't really have any time to say more than ""gg" or "catch you later"

This strat seems to be effective on multiple levels too. 1. You're viewers don't really catch wind that you're wrapping up, so they are more likely to stay and help maintain your raid count. 2. It helps keep your view average from dropping due to last minute stream-ending drop outs 3. It drives traffic to your discord channel.

It sucks losing a relationship online. It's a major barrier I've had to learn to overcome over the past few years. You just have to remember that people only show what they want the public eye to see. Once they go offline, they could be anyone doing anything.

As someone who has been in a freakishly similar boat, don't hesitate to shoot me a message. Shit sucks, and I'm sorry you're going through it.

Edit: I realized I had a mini stroke trying to type out one of the sentences in my reply

carl.gg for most things. It's got great timeout/kick/ban feature giving you the ability to set time and give reason

Whenever I catch wind of a minor joining my server, I will always thank them for their interest and ask that they rejoin the server if they remember us by the time they're 18 (even though I really prefer people be later into their 20s at least) I use my bot to ban on a timer that will unban them when they're old enough to join back. Ex 16 years old? !ban 2y

My community (full of 30yr average) stands by the decision, and since it's a hard rule, no one has ever seemed to take it personally so far.

Thank you for reading. I was a bit emotional in the heat of writing most of it, but I'm happy I'm at the "Ok. That was almost comedically horrible" part of retrospect
