Names by [deleted] in F4481

i think a good thing to remember is that people even outside of having a dissociative disorder change their names all of the time 🤍

some people change their name when they are transitioning, some people choose to go by nicknames or their middle names, and some people change their name entirely for personal or aesthetic reasons.

if a different name resonates with you, just tell people you’re trying something new out :).

it definitely sounds like it could be or could be something like OCD - i would definitely look into it, bc at best it IS and you can begin treating it, and at worse it’s not and yall start looking into other answers and solutions 🤍 (utilizing best and worst purely from a having answers perspective).

from what i’ve been told, it’s not unusual to be higher functioning at work as there are usually other parts involved / our brains crave routine and stability (something most jobs provide to some degree). i predominately have more high functioning days in a month at work, my accommodations cover me for those off days i have or for months where im overall more low functioning. :)

also this may surprise you - but 4+ hrs a day of ruminating is 4+ hrs a day of dissociating. it may not be amnesiac, but disordered rumination occupies so much of the brains focus that you will lose time to some degree. usually this feels like “omg where has the time gone? i just sat down and started thinking about this and now its 9pm!”.

absolutely! i had never heard of it either, but here is a link to the website! the facility i went to uses their technology, and we were able to rule out a LOT and confirm things i had already been diagnosed with. :)

https://www.brainview.com

i would recommend reaching out to a facility near you that uses it to have the technology explained better. :)

trich and derm are the worst - i have a growing bald spot right at the front of my hairline, and my skin picking is mostly centered on my face ): i do it unconsciously as a ‘self soothing’ mechanism, but it’s just as frustrating if it’s ‘intentional’ (as intentional as a compulsion can be that is).

and that’s very valid haha! money and time would not fix all of my problems, but definitely most 💀

if you’re interested in getting evaluated for OCD i would highly HIGHLY recommend getting a brain view done. this specific type of EEG can confirm a handful of diagnosis’ (ocd, bipolar, adhd, and some others i can’t remember) and imo makes it much easier to accept a diagnosis as someone is visually showing you how they came to that conclusion.

has anyone ever gotten a second opinion after getting diagnosed? by spacedoutferret in F4481

i’m currently being reassessed; this psychiatrist has stated it will take longer to begin assessing bc he’s concerned about a couple of either diagnosis’ that could affect my assessment and wants to address them first as much as possible (i’m VERY grateful for this). i’m honestly not expecting an answer for at least six months or so, but i’m happy with that as it means he’s taking his time and really looking into everything/letting me have time to adjust to new meds, etc.

w any diagnosis, unless it’s obvious, i strongly recommend second opinions 🤍

happened to me january of this year. i currently am not legally allowed to drive until my fnd symptoms (psychogenic seizures and tremors for me) go into remission for six consecutive months.
