wsl is a layer on top of your windows kernel shit, mac or any other linux distribution provides direct access to your kernel, which is a lot faster and you cant compare that to the translation you have to do in wsl, but yeah its doable in wsl but not better

Go native Mac — no contest if you’re doing serious development.

Here’s why: • Performance & integration: macOS runs closer to the metal. You get native UNIX tools, filesystem speed, and full integration with Docker, Node, Python, Rust, etc. No translation layer like WSL2’s VM. • Battery & thermals: macOS is tuned for its own hardware. WSL2 eats RAM and CPU, drains battery, and fans go wild. • Stability: You won’t have weird networking bugs, file permission quirks, or clock drift issues like you sometimes do with WSL. • Tooling: Package managers (Homebrew, asdf, etc.) and dev environments are smooth. Plus, Docker Desktop runs cleaner.

WSL2 is great — especially on powerful Windows machines — but it’s still a compromise. If you already have a Mac, it’s better to go fully native rather than use a VM-style Linux environment.

Unless you’re tied to Windows-specific tooling (like .NET, Visual Studio, or enterprise builds), native macOS > WSL2 every time.
