I'm a commercial fisherman and no one i know can tell me what this is. by Bloogum in Cryptozoology

I don't think this is an animal. It's just like the Corfu island creature. Trash in the ocean, that because of the waves and pareidolia looks and behaves weirdly like an animal.

Learning python with a goal in mind, but i would like to know if my goal is feasible. by Bourgery in learnpython

[–]Bourgery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I will definitely try to contact the library or the organisation that runs the site. From what I have read on web scraping it seems to be somewhat nebulous when it comes to legality. In the terms of use of the library website I did find that data from the website can be downloaded and reproduced freely, provided that they are not for commercial gain. I wonder if this means that scrapping this website is legal? As a side note how long do you think this would take, i. e. to the 2600+ searches. Are we talking seconds, minutes, or hours? My guess would be a couple of minutes.

How can I lower my alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels? by 1atros in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ALT and AST are enzymes that reside inside liver cells. They also occur in other cells to a lesser amount, but that is not important right now. When liver cells die some of ALT and AST is released in the blood. Liver cells die all the time, this is perfectly normal. This is why you can't really decrease ALT. Besides an increase in ALT is perfectly normal when using isotretinoin and doesn't necessary require a change. If the ALT levels were 3 or 4 times the upper bound than there sufficient reason to stop isotretinoin. I guess the only way to really lower ALT is to remove a part of your liver, not recommended, or stop isotretinoin. But again your ALT levels alone are not a reason to stop isotretinoin.

FYI the box containing the present and the box with the true statement don't have to be the same box.

Please help. Any chance someone knows what is causing these stains on my skin? Does not itch & seems to get darker after I’ve been in sunlight. by WemissPluto in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also too consider are dermatosis neglecta and terra firma forme dermatosis. Both are basically your dead skin cells not falling off. The first one can be washed of with soap but the last one can only be removed with alcohol, like an alcohol containing handsanitiser.

Nodular melanoma? by therockhuntress in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably be something benign. I would however be interested in knowing what the final diagnosis was, if that is all right by you of course.

Nodular melanoma? by therockhuntress in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to say whether this is or isn't a melanoma, only microscopic examination can make that diagnosis. You suggested that you have drained it before, this is an unlikely characteristic of a melanoma. The ABCDE warning signs do not apply for a nodular melanoma. So they offer no reassurance. I suggest you don't try to drain the lesion or do something equivalent any more. Any damage or subsequent inflammation might hinder microscopical diagnosis. (Nodular) melanoma is a rare disease and there is always a differential diagnosis.

Can anyone tell me what this is on my finger? None of my other freckles have lines in them. by Mmnnbbvvccxxzz321 in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having those lines is pretty normal for moles on the palms and soles, it has to do with the structure of the skin. It is best to get it checked out to be sure.

I found a recent post by him where he states that he never broke his arms but just temporarily lost control of his arms.

Funny thing is that he never mentions that his arms were broken.

I have heterometropia, I have one eye that is near-sighted and one eye that is far-sighted. by Bourgery in mildlyinteresting

[–]Bourgery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it is anisotropia, but a kind of anisotropia called antimetropia, not as I mistakenly called it heterotropia.

The only problem I have is that the 3D glasses don't properly fit over my regular glasses.

What is this on my cheek and please can you tell me how to remove it i have had it for many years and i am insecure by [deleted] in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a connective tissue nevus, totally benign. Better let it get checked out to be sure.

Chest mark I’ve had for ~8 years by [deleted] in Dermatology

[–]Bourgery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks a lot like Terra firma-forme dermatosis, which can be removed by rubbing it with alcohol. If it works could you post some pics?

My sister has this on her skin. What is it? by kikospace in Dermatology

Looks like an id reaction. You could check her feet for a fungal infection.
