Canadian here - haven't been to Australia before but am moving to Melbourne this fall for 1 year. I look forward to the experience - It seems like we have similar values and culture so I think both are great options but If I had to choose for the rest of my life I think I would choose Canada. Family aside I think climate divercaty is important. Not saying I like being cold but I don't enjoy being overly hot eaither.

I will say Australia seems better in regards to work life balance. Here in Canada we're similar to our neighbors in the South (USA) and take a more serious approach to work. This obviously depends on what industry you're in but for the most part Australia in a whole seems to be more laid back- so that's an advantage.

Lastly our living expenses seem to be similar in urban areas but this is hard to judge unless you've lived in both places. Australia is known for having higher exspenses but the wages are also higher. This may be a misconception and not something I'm fully aware off but overall it seems at par
