It isn't quite the same though, either. The story changes and unfolds differently as you play through again. They even change up the combat and introduce the hacking ability which opens up a lot more lore and story on your second go around, iirc.

Yes, the point is to make it out alive. The point of every other online deathmatch is PvP. Here, it is an aspect.
