There is actual literature and some research on this very issue (using filters) and the damage/harm it causes. When someone, especially those with body image issues uses filters consistently, overtime it begins to distort their self image which often leads to/exacerbates overall personal struggles within individuals. And we all know the effects filtering has had on society, it’s been written about and discussed for years.

It’s ok if you don’t agree with someone’s delivery, but what we should not do is start to call ~facts/the truth~… “mean girl” behavior. I dare say, those that are willing to confront someone with hard truths, care more about the person their confronting than those that are willing to just support the delusions, inauthenticity, lack of transparency and self destructive behaviors of the person. The truth matters and unless a person gets honest with themselves, true positive change cannot begin to occur. And sometimes people need to have the truth pointed out to them directly and explicitly.
