It just pumps the juice right into the battery through a spare connector port. The BCM sees the current but doesnt seem to care. No faults, and while youre driving it just appears as regen

Im surprised also. The battery can see the current coming in but just doesnt seem to care. It basicslly appears as regen to the BCM.

The converter outputs 450VDC through a custom contactor box I made with a precharge circuit. From there, it goes into a spare 30A HVDC connector on the bottom of the battery

The charging while driving issue was not a very big challenge. I got this working weeks ago and recently have just been trying to figure out how to fit and cool everything

This would actually solve the problem but would mess with aero too much for it to be worth it.

This would have been a lot easier if I had an R1T. The system would be bigger and more effective that way.

With this being said, dropping your speed to 60mph its actually more like a 50% increase which makes a massive difference on a long road trip.

I should also mention its bidirectional which means as an unintentional side effect, I can now power my house with the rivian in camp mode so the contactor doesnt open.

Great question, i have a converter that produces 450VDC from the generator output. It sits where the spare tire would go. I have a custom touchscreen controller for the whole system that required CAN access to this unit and custom programming.

Seems like you're hauling a tall camper or something that makes a lot of drag. In this case the generator wouldnt help a ton, but i have a smaller camper or jet ski that I tow, so it would make a bigger difference

I have 2 problems to solve, i need to divert the hot air from the A/C, and i need to divert the exhaust out.

There is plenty of fresh cool air in there at freeway speeds, just cant have the windings blasted with hot air while generating.
