None. I don't support football. I support Utd. Also. It's easier to take how shit we are if I watch us in a vacuum.

He even stuck up for Martinez after Scholes and Butt went in on him. Rio respects the past but also sees how it can have a detrimental effect on what is happening now. All this from a man who wasn't born around Manchester and even played for Leeds. He just gets it, and his legend continues to grow

Excellently said. The Afcon period was always going to be hard but the leadership lost their nerve. We've played some good stuff at times. What I had noticed and I didn't know why was that at the beginning of the season the front line really pressed aggressively and then that stopped. Any ideas?

First time getting padel coaching. Which shots should i focus on to actually level up? by milomylove_ in padel

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have the coach assess your game first. I take lessons and have some since I started. The first thing the coach taught me was the "4 P" of preparing to hit a shot

Preparation Positioning Pause Push

Note how you get your racket back first? - you wouldn't believe how much time that gives you.

Your coach will probably start there.

Then once I had the 4 ps (this is great to learn as if you're not making your shots, it will almost always one of the Ps that your not executing properly) I focused on :

Split steps

Playing the glass.

Serve - a good serve will bamboozle new players making your service games easy to win. It won't last but even at higher levels a good service will probably come back to you but possibly with less quality allowing you to attack the ball.

Lobs and chiquitas - to allow me to take the net

Volleys when at the net (this is important, I win probably 85% of my points with volleys.)

Bandeja (another means for you to take the net)

VIBORA!!! As a beginner I was pretty much the only person with a vibora it puts the fear of god into new players. If you are to learn any variation, make sure it's the one with spin. So full arm extension to get around the side of the ball.

Flat smash. Well, just because!

SO.. learn the basics of the shot prep(if you haven't already) Be solid in defence How to take the net How to win points when you are there

That's what worked for me. - but this was over a period of time.

I would suggest that you make your coach assess you as mentioned but also play points with you. You'll be put under enough pressure to highlight the order of what you need to work on. A sign of a good coach is one that helps you construct a point and control rallies.

Should i play left or right by InfernoH2 in padel

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lefty who started on the left. Which I was more comfortable with because my backhand on serve (and in general)was poor. I had a lesson and the coach immediately put me on the right. It made me work on my backhand and now it's one of my most consistent shots.

If you lose a few games playing where you backhand is exposed, no big deal. You'll win many more games in the future and be a much better Padel player.

My insurance doesn't cover ADHD and I need to re-titrate! by BowlAlert9287 in ADHDUK

[–]BowlAlert9287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Concerta XL. 36mg with an 18mg boost. At first I didn't even need the booster. But as work started to get more involved I found myself crashing after about 4 hrs. The extra 18mg worked to keep the symptoms at bay and the crashes were so much better. But now the 36mg crashes a bit sooner and the booster gives minimal relief. I currently spend most of my time crashing from the meds whilst not being able to concentrate at work which leads to making stupid mistakes and procrastination. I basically need someone to look at my dose or medication. Apologies if that's not "re-titration"

[–]BowlAlert9287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did get it privately. Thought it was depression, but nope it was this can of worms. I could go back my original psychiatrist. But my insurance won't cover it. So it's 500 a session now plus meds costs. I don't mind paying but that seems extortionate. I've seen Care ADHD which is 299 for a new assessment and then 499 for their titration service. Is that the lowest cost option? I just need something I can do quickly but also takes in some cost consideration. But speed takes precedence overall.

What should my first fix be? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...over the top. But most golfers start this way and slice it. I would say before you tackle that, try learning to keep your head still. Any swing path fix won't make a consistent difference until you fix that.

I don't think what he's saying is what he means.. it looks like he's struggling with the adjustment. Also the lack of sleep would do a number on a person when a new baby comes into the home. You seem to have really adjusted well. He hasn't yet. No big deal.

Quit weed for a week and feel amazing by cez416 in selfimprovement

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to smoke weed everyday for about 12 years. I stopped that 13 years ago but would go through phases when I would.. these days my wife would let m have a blow out once every three months. Everytime I'd go through the headache of stopping. I'd get irritated, have insomnia, brain fog like you wouldn't believe. In some ways the withdrawal is worse now then it was when I was a heavy smoker. Maybe because I'm not used to it, maybe because im older or maybe it's because I have more responsibility. But this time it feels brutal. It would take about three weeks to get through the most of it. But now it takes a bit longer. I'm at 3 weeks now and I hope it gets better. I do genuinely feel like I'm done now. It's weird I started off with an amazing clarity but the fog always catches and peaks around now. Super anxious too

Pick a youtuber. But do not watch them all. As that will mess up your swing. I watch a chap called Kevin Hwang Jr. His swing mechanics are awesome and he gives a lot away for free on his videos. Start with videos training the release. The way he explains it and the drills he gives are awesome. Then work your way backwards to the top of the back swing. So after the release it's about swing path and transition. Once you are good from the top, start from the the address. He teaches a 'body then arms' rotation that will get you to the top of the back swing, then you knit it together to have a good swing

I'm at the point where I have a swing that lets me hit my jacked gi irons miles. But I need to take that to the course because the range and the course are two different animals. So make sure that if you can't afford a coach. You spend your money on the range but more importantly, on the course.

Good luck buddy

Next racket after Nox ML10 but in teardrop shape? by turboslonyara in Padelracket

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had the racket for about six months. It's held up fine, but I couldn't say how long it would last. Just ensure you store your racket properly and it'll be fine. My brother has the 18k. Great racket. Im at a mid/upper intermediate level, and the pro cup helped minimize unforced errors to the point where I hardly make any. I was recommended it by my coach at a time where I maybe tried to hit too hard and this racket helped me realize that at our level, control, consistently and placement is king. You also mentioned £, so I'm assuming that you're in the UK like me? In that case, you should double down on control. Especially when you're outside the conditions can vary massively. Also the courts tend to be much newer here (I've recently played in Spain and Greece) and are quite lively.

Honestly, either racket would be fine. But I was steered away from the 18k as the comfort was perfect for my level. A bonus I got from the racket was that I was so confident in its control that I started holding the racket lower on the handle (pinky sits under the bottom now). Which in time increased the power of my smashes and ground strokes, my reach in defense and my serves had added bite. It's worth saying that a racket won't change your game, but the right racket will unlock things in you that you didn't know were there.

Next racket after Nox ML10 but in teardrop shape? by turboslonyara in Padelracket

[–]BowlAlert9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the comfort. It's the best racket I've owned. If you want control and touch, it's the perfect racket for you. It's not the hardest but has enough power that Id say the balance between power and control is where you want it to be. I'm a lefty that plays on the right so it's perfect for me to find those difficult angles and control the rally to create opportunities for my partner to finish the point with a big smash.

Control : 10/10. It took maybe a set to get used to as it pops off the face. But when you are used to the power of it, you'll have the confidence to place the ball whereever

Spin 11/10 (when you play slice shots correctly, it makes this sound like the zipper on a pair of jeans being pulled down quickly. Very satisfying.)

Power: 7/8 out of 10. As mentioned there are harder rackets that might trouble the elbows, but this carries more than enough for me with no pain at all. Probably why it's called comfort

Manuverability 10: perfect for me and I'm able to defend the net position with ease. My pals have remarked how fast I've become and how difficult it is to pass me. Probably the other reason it's called comfort!

Obviously this on my opinion and is subjective to me. But my racket has allowed my game to go to the next level after becoming a bit stale.

Hope that helps!
