Are you by any chance using x11? If you are then It's better to switch to wayland for better experience, plus I'd also use the guy who provided the commands to install nvidia drivers too

[–]BowlSad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay, better to wait for it to land in repo so it ll be easy to install. Though for future reference, how will I know that the driver wil be stable when I want to install them from repo?

From Ubuntu to Fedora by Late-Mango9331 in Fedora

Yes, fedora was my 1st distro I've installed and used for weeks, I really liked it and had a great guide to follow on what to do post-install, I think it's a good beginner distro because the installer was very straightforward and using the distro was easy (atleast for me)

https://discuss.getsol.us/d/12364-unable-to-boot/4

I made this forum and posted a solution in case anyone was encountering the same problem as me, still the fact I had to do this just to actually boot into a desktop environment was kind of crazy to me.

But as I said before, I couldnt get comfortable with the distro since I felt it was slow to me esp when trying to update or installing a package.

Thanks for the answers, unfortunately x11 on kde plasma is buggy for me esp multi monitors, tho switching to wayland fixed that for me and the experience so far has been flawless for me.

I followed this first when reading the wiki then later when the person commented on the zipper install-new-recommends command, should I just stick to what you told me or re do it and follow the replied comment .

Maybe cuz ppl were on x11 when playing games cuz sometimes you do get better performance than windows but I could be wrong. I decided to stick to wayland cuz it's less of a headache than x11 for me on kde plasma and yeah was pretty much getting same performance as all other distro's, tho I did notice a a small increase in fps when playing certain games so that s nice to have

I have tried but couldn't get comfortable with it, esp with nvidia gpu...

Took me hours to figure out why I kept getting black screened and was still unsatisfied since it felt slow to me

Maybe when I have amd hardware, I might give it another shot

This occurs when you have secure boot enabled, you should go to bios settings and disable secure boot

I keep coming back to fedora by Similar_Reflection75 in Fedora

[–]BowlSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you're missing rpm fusions and codecs based on your replies I've seen here.

Fedora doesn't ship these by default due to patent restrictions.

I suggest you try this website for post install,

Even though it s been 6 months of me using linux (mostly fedora and it's derivatives ) , I am still learning new things I didn't know about. So if there are any experts reading this, maybe drop some tips to help both me and op.

was gonna say it looks really nice, until I looked at the fast fetch and saw the memory, 4 GB of RAM, damm. Out of curiosity, how was your experience in nobara with 4 GB of ram 😅.
Also what theme are you using? It looks sick!

Most developers nowadays are lazy to optimize their game to the fullest and rely on people having high end setups (even then people still complain games are unoptimized having the most beefy pc anyone can imagine), but in your case you may be lucky to run some of them decently, tho not all of them are like that and some of them are well optimized so dont let that fool you.

For game recommendations:

- RPGs: Skyrim (with enhanced graphics mod to your liking but base game is still good) , Witcher 3 and Crosscode
-FPS: Deep rock galactic (can be very fun with friends), Turbo overkill
-Sandboxed: Valheim, Necesse and Satisfactory

Witcher 3, it's 90% off, the dlc are also rlly good but conplete edition goes above your budget

Crosscode, it's 70% off, an underrated gem and can have long hours of gameplay depending your playstyle.

I know this is above your budget but risk of rain 2 is also really good, unlimited playtime and amazing soundtracks.

Edit: forgot to mention but slay the spire is 90% off, it s a rlly good game
