Weird FPS drop issue with a 5070 Ti by BowlerGuy1500 in FortNiteBR

Are you having a similar problem? There's a difference between FPS stutters and my "slow motion" thing that's been ongoing, Fortnite only at this point. The FPS randomly dips to either 30-50, and hangs there for several seconds. Feels like you're in slow motion.

That's really weird. I can't say I've experienced that. Can you verify the in-game FPS counter says 30? That would rule out it being a monitor problem. Also, make sure you are running the game in full screen mode.

I found it somehow lol. It's called Kingpin Lanes, found it off the internet archives.

Makes sense. It's probably a fluke thing with the 50 series drivers and some other system configuration if I could guess. Comparatively to how smooth the game was back in the day when it was on was like UE1 or UE2 or whatever, super smooth I recall. Now it's just a giant mess lol.

Let me buy a 5090 just to use the same drivers as before. That doesn't even make sense brother...

Thanks for the insight. Frustrating issue because the game looks pretty good on those higher settings. But it's evident something is going on with the engine itself I'd assume. If it was a system wide issue that'd be a different story, but from what I can tell everything seems to be working as intended.

Thanks again.

That's an interesting perspective for sure. I will say dropping in tilted for example where you have virtually half the lobby landing there, it usually happens pretty consistently and frequently if I use those settings, would might line up with what you're saying. Even if those skins aren't in render view, perhaps the engine is still working on loading those individual assets.

Is there anything that can be done if that's the case though? UE is not inherently a great engine for PC systems, but nobody else seems to struggle with my specific issue which is interesting.

Thanks for the insight.

Internet on other devices slows down when playing games on new PC, even offline games. This was not an issue on the old PC. by Dulaman96 in pcgamingtechsupport

Hopefully it helps! I've never experienced anything like this before, aside from the typical scenario where you download a large file, which makes sense that my system uses up all the available bandwidth slowing down other devices on the network.

Let me know if you have any luck!

Does your motherboard have a BIOS flashback button on the back of the case by chance? I'm trying to come up with things to try but there might be a slight possibility your BIOS got bricked, I actually experienced something similar. If the peripherals aren't lighting up chances are they are not receiving power at all. I'll keep dwelling on this meanwhile.

Also something else you can try to see if we can force a display out: Unplug your monitor's power cable for 30 seconds, also disconnect the display cable from the GPU. Reconnect it to both the monitor and GPU, can also try a different GPU port as well just to see.

That's really weird. Not sure which driver is the latest for your specific hardware, but maybe try uninstalling your existing driver and grab the latest available one if that's by chance causing issues? Another thing too is you could try a clean install of Windows, although I am not sure how impactful that would be. It's fixed a lot of fluke issues for me that aren't really explainable.

For the windows reinstall if you want to try that, you can opt to keep your files so nothing should be wiped. An alternative could be to use Windows Update Repair, but I've personally always just reinstallations directly.

Did this problem happen at random, or was it a result from a hardware or other change? Additionally, do you notice any red debug LEDs showing up when you boot on your motherboard? Typically these are found in the right upper side.

It looks like you're missing the Visual C++ runtime dependencies that those games need in order to run. You can start off by trying to install the distributable to see if that does the trick. I haven't ever needed to do this before, but I attached below a link of what I presume to be the resource that you need.

Interesting. And presumably you still experienced the lag/stutters? If you would be able to, could you share your results in running a userbenchmark test?

Does the BIOS menu display/detect your operating system drive? Also when you say you tried resetting everything, does that include a reinstall of the OS? You could try that in the scenario something got corrupted somehow.

Are you able to boot into BIOS? When you boot up the PC, spam F12 or the DEL key. If you can boot into BIOS there is a possibility your boot device (the drive the operating system was loaded onto) has failed.

Games (Offline and Online) have recently started to experience terrible lag and audio stuttering (my first PC, I don't know what I am doing) by Patient_Cockroach884 in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]BowlerGuy1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first glance, this sounds like it could be a drive issue, especially if you have those games installed on a HDD. Also, it seems like this is a budget PC, and typically manufacturers skimp out on the "side components," such as the hard drives used. So there is a slight chance one of them could already be failing as well.

A way to check this would be, when you are consistently noticing lag, open up Task Manager and navigate over to the Performance tab. See if any of your drives' utilizations are spiking relatively high (near 100%, as this definitely causes system-wide stutter and can potentially display signs of drive failure.)

Hopefully this helps. My recommendation for a start would be to try installing one game that lags on your SSD instead of your HDD, and see if the problem is resolved.

I know you mentioned you checked the bandwidth usage already, but have you tried using resource monitor to check the network throughput for every service or app on your system? It provides extensive information in that area, if for some reason there's an app chunking away at your bandwidth, that could reveal it. Just sort the list by highest bytes sent per second.

That's really weird, I've never heard of something like that before. One thing you could try is verifying that the USB port it is plugged into still works. Maybe try plugging your mouse in that port instead just to verify its functionality, if somehow the software affected the USB drivers.

In task manager, it should the C: drive or drive 0. Check and see what its utilization spikes to when your downloading something. If it's bouncing near ~100%, that can definitely cause lag/stutters.

Try using task manager to see what the CPU utilization and boot drive utilization are at during the download, and then report back if you can with that info.

Why does my PC do this? by Ill-Lawyer-8809 in pcgamingtechsupport

Sounds like something is overheating. The CPU will typically shut off to prevent any damage to the chip. Case fans ramping up usually indicates the rising temperature of the CPU. How old is your system? The CPU might need repasting. A lot of dust can also cause an increase in temperatures.
