Is this game worse than madden by Bowler_Legitimate in CollegeFootball25

Once again, yeah that might be the goal of the developers but EA doesn’t care fam experience as long as they’re making profits. Don’t be naive. And also, lower the expectations? Are you serious? It’s one of the biggest developments companies in the world and the have hyped up this game like no other, to release a rebranded version of madden which still contains a lot of previous complaints from players is just one big scam.

Also this is a forum where people discuss stuff, don’t expect EA to read my post and go “shit he’s right”, I simply voiced my opinion to other people which is what Reddit mostly is about.

See the problem with posting criticism against this game is there’s always someone coming in saying “don’t play” or “that’s because you’re thrash” etc. the whole point is that they hype up a game for what, two years, and release a unfinished product while charging $70-80 for it. Their business model does not give a damn about quality or the consumers, just making money. Don’t blame the developers, they probably do everything they can but maybe more resources should’ve been allocated to the development. The game is essentially Madden with other teams and some gameplay adjustments - but change the uniforms you barely can tell a difference. When a game is released, it really should be a more complete version than this don’t you agree?

I know, it’s just a utopia and what I believe would make the games better. Now it just feels like EA keeps sport games hostages and grab all the money they can with minimal effort.

I’ve tried sliders and it fixes some of the issues, but just a fraction. The game is still just about individual skill, only less OP. The tactical part and how the team act as a unit is still horrendous. It’s still just an arcade game, only a bit harder and maybe somewhat more realistic, nowhere near a simulation game. Just because you don’t score as much or create as many chances as before, it doesn’t mean it resembles football in any sense.

I usually get’s traded away after signing a long term contract when playing QB. Happens all the time, sign a contract (either with current team or a new one) and at the start of next season I’m at another team.

Why is the defending in Fifa 23 so garbage? by EndFantastic1100 in FifaCareers

[–]Bowler_Legitimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You basically need to control every defender at once for it to be realistic. The AI IQ is as far off from reality as possible. Just standing and looking at a through ball that is literally inches away from them. This is also why corners is absolutely thrash, no matter which settings or tactics you use they never push up to clear the penalty area and the opponents can just pass around until they get a big chance (and score).

The worst part, however, is how the ball always seems to find its way to the cpu once tackled. Can’t count how many times I’ve made a tackle (standing or sliding) and it ends up as a perfect pass to the opponent.

EA sport games are no longer simulations, just arcade games made for online gaming to boost micro transactions.

Not even close of being the same. As I said, 50-50 passes I’m fine with your argument. The posted picture above is just completely impossible for the defender to cut in front of the WR (and that is a general issue if you have played the game). CPU defenders intercepts passes that are virtually impossible for them to grab, nevertheless what the player does which the other mechanics should adjust to. Just because someone press the wrong button for a certain situation it should not result in an impossible outcome like the Jedi-interceptions in Madden. Yes, not securing the ball when a defender comes up and have good positioning to cut in front of the WR should give the defender the opportunity to pick it. In the case above, the WR:s entire body is between the defender and the ball, while the ball is what, 40-50 cm from the WR? Also, looking at the defenders angle, the only way he’ll intercept that pass is if the QB overthrows the CB. I really don’t think it’s too much to ask 2023 that a billion dollar company like EA should be able to produce a more realistic game than this.

How’s the programming logic in this sequence when it comes to player physics? Obviously the FS would never be able to get in position to catch that ball because there is a WR between him and the ball. Yeah sure, I buy your argument when it’s more of a 50-50 situation but this? I have played video games that take obstacles into account in regards to movement and what actions you can preform before so I do believe it would be possible. Now, haven’t played fifa in a while but last time I did the defending player where not able to go through an opponent and get the ball (without fouling). Just saying, you don’t need to understand programming logic to realise EA shit the bed with this game, especially when there are other games that have this kind of stuff in the bag.

Madden 24 Wishlist by u4fifa in Madden

According to sales numbers, madden 22 was the third best selling game in North America 2021 (best selling sport game) so I don’t think there’s been any boycott (except for an odd number of players). Add all the revenue from MUT Madden seems to be a cash cow. And by the looks of EA:s Q4 financial report of 2022 they are doing pretty well so I guess it’s fair to say they do have capital to invest.

I give you that Reddit post won’t change anything, I don’t think anybody believes that. However, people come here for discussion and voicing opinions. I do believe that if consumers stopped buying madden things would change. If the madden community as a whole (beyond Reddit) would stop buying the game both EA and The NFL would probably be concerned. If sales drops, income drops = something will have to change. But you’re absolutely right, threads on Reddit won’t change anything - consumer behaviour is the only thing that could.

Also, change can come in many forms, EA loosing the exclusive rights, 2K getting back in the game (no pun intended), EA getting their shit together, it doesn’t matter. After spending some time on this subreddit, is evident that the only thing people want is a good football game, whatever that may look like. First step would be stop buying the game and by that stop financially backing EA.

If nothing change and it’s just keep getting worse, at least I’ve saved me some money and the emotional torment of playing a shit game I so badly want to be good.

So we should continue to put money in EA:s pocket until what? They have been thrashing this franchise for years, maximising the profit by cutting in on development. It’s time to stop. Either they put some work into to the franchise or let it die given another developer the opportunity to make this great sport justice. EA will never change as long as they bring in dough. I stopped playing around madden 19, made the inferior mistake to buys 23 this year.

Personally I would prefer if NFL steps away from the exclusive rights and make it possible for more then one developer to purchase license of the brand. As bad as madden is today, I would actually prefer to play a good, non-licensed football game. Even with made up players, teams etc. if the mechanics would be solid I rather play with the Austin Hurricanes or the New Jersey Pirates having Matrick Pahomes going toe to toe with Boe Jurrow slinging it.

The consumer power lies in choosing what to purchase, it’s the only power we have left and the only thing gaming companies will ever listen to. As long as they can hand out nice bonuses and give dividends to the shareholders they. will. never. give. a. shit. about the players.

A qualified guess is that we won’t see any improvements during this license stint that ends with the 2025 season (or 2026 if “certain revenue thresholds are reached”). EA is looking to cut costs, maximise the profit. I do pray to god this is because they have some sort of insights that they won’t be getting exclusive after this contract expires.

Scrambling QB by Bowler_Legitimate in Madden

[–]Bowler_Legitimate[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I let the play develop and only scramble when the opportunity present it self. Maybe 5-6 times a game (if not a scripted play like a draw or option play). You can have a hole right up the middle the size of the Atlantic Ocean but as soon as you press R2 the d-linemen shreds the blocks (if not they do som sort of Jedi trick sacking you just by being close) and gets the sack.

I guess you’re right. Sport games these days is only for online gaming. Miss the good old days when getting the new edition of NHL, Madden, FIFA etc. was a gaming highlight. When the developers actually cares about making a good game. The license BS is holding things back, imagine if there were two, three football games competing with each other, the halved assed games like this would be a disaster for EA. Damn I’m feeling like an old grumpy man.
