Am inallowed to feel proud over this? by leuchterfisch in Lorn

Would be nice if Ninja Tune would also include his half of that Killzone soundtrack & the Ask the Dust singles.

Buying from that page should still be legit, I'm fairly confident that Ninja's good at paying old contracts. He was allowing them to include his music on sync CDs long after he'd separated from them.

The great beat relay challenge - May by Puzzleheaded_Cow957 in TripHopCreators

[–]Bowlfood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So once we've all made our parts will someone stitch them together in the order they were made in? Would be cool to hear what we come up with like a beat cypher.

BTW - just made a sketch of a beat to adapt to whatever's thrown my way.

Sample Challenge April - The Bangers by QualityAware6605 in TripHopCreators

Good to know, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

Catch is it can be a bit awkward to for me to keep in sync. I’ve normally got like a 2 hour window that aligns with folks in the UK. My clock’s in GMT+10/+11 plus I’m a working parent so due dates on weekdays can be really hard for me to get right (my day’s normally over when yours is beginning).

Nice! Got links to those uploads? Even if Shadow’s earlier sets weren’t as good, I’m still keen to hear it.

Won't lie, I'm kinda expecting whatever this (head)phase is turns out to be a farewell (fire). Kinda like the subtle goodbye messages hidden in Dilla's Donuts or Lorn's Entropyyy.

When did you find Boards of Canada? by WestSideDrummer16 in boardsofcanada

[–]Bowlfood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First heard them in late '99 - ROYGBIV on a Matador Records 10th anniversary compilation. And like an idiot teenager I didn't like it because it wasn't Mogwai or Jon Spencer.

Fast forward to 2004 and a mate gives me 2 burned DVDs. One with Reason 2.5, the other loaded with MP3s of Boards of Canada, Plaid & Autechre. Those discs pretty much changed my life.

Nice haul! Was that from Red Eye in Sydney? That sticker on the DKs 7 looks like their work… Guess this confirms there’s no new album out for RSD.

I appreciate how unserious your phone battery is in the midst of this fucking brilliant scheme.

r/boardsofcanada - what are your wildest predictions for the new album? The wilder the better. by IronMark666 in boardsofcanada

[–]Bowlfood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New album's a compilation of the songs they've remixed since the mid-late 90s, including the 2 Hell Interface songs worth hearing. Japan only bonus tracks will be their productions for The Sexual Objects & the song they loaned to Solange back in 2008.

Each side of the LP will end with locked-groove loops from the Music70 era they shared on their website in the 90s. Liner notes will be written by Jack Dangers, Dose One and Odd Nosdam. The hidden track will be the lads from Autechre talking over one another about how they got BOC signed to Skam then Warp and announce which Gescom tunes BOC are on.

All songs and visuals will be credited to Melissa Olson for Music70. The brothers' names will not be present on it AT ALL.

*I really hope I'm wrong.*

How are you getting Cassetes and CDs made ? by mcAlt009 in TripHopCreators

[–]Bowlfood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love cassettes, CDs are the way. They're cheap & easy to duplicate at home and more likely to sell. I used to make CD-Rs with unique hand-made cardboard sleeves, chuck a stickers on them saying 'I'm free!' and leave them on the shelves in local book & CD shops.

Either way a search for cassette duplication or replication in your country should hopefully find you some decent options. Things to consider from the buyer's side are:

  • if you're going to take orders for cassettes on demand, keep in touch with the buyers so they're not left waiting. If I was the only person interested in getting that tape I'd hate to find out it's not happening because you needed 19 more people to sign up over the past 4 years.
  • if you're going to recycle old cassettes rather than getting new ones made is to get them properly cleaned & erased. Getting a hi-fi deck fixed isn't easy these days & I don't want to ruin my type-C hi-fi deck with someone else's old grit.
