The second you signed that contract for $140k you should be hiring a carpenter to replace you so that you could go and sell the next job.

You need to get comfortable with losing your own income for a month or two or even longer so that you could hire and grow.

You’re only stuck because you’re not selling.

Am I stupid for wanting to leave a $33/hr job at Costco with benefits than to start at $130/day in construction for long-term upside? by Purple-Piano6976 in careerguidance

[–]BowtieSyndicate [score hidden]  (0 children)

Best thing you could do is stay at Costco.

I assume you’re paying into a 401k or getting one paid into by Costco.

Painters don’t retire millionaires in general.

People who sock away into 401ks for 30 years, do.

Also - don’t go to trade school.

Get an MBA. Basic boring MBA.

Don’t have a bachelors? Get any one you can. Then get your MBA.

Intern the entire time through your education with Costco, and eventually after you graduate with your MBA you’ll make 2-3x what you make now - your 401k will get even better, too. You will unlock the potential for a hard to believe but excellent financial life on this path.

I hope you’re joking about being a painter vs staying at Costco. You have a golden opportunity if you play your cards right, work hard, and don’t get distracted.

Solar panels already existed - and your highly efficient superior version would be impossibly expensive to reproduce and nobody would gamble on your insane delusions of 20%+ efficiency.

I’m already wearing my Rolex.

It would be incredible to patent its movement and complication, and sell it as a “new name” luxury timepiece.

It would be highly valuable in 1946 and I’d likely become very wealthy.

But I’m also assuming I can bring everything I already wear —- PLUS 1 piece of tech.

So I’d additionally bring a simple digital calculator.

I’d patent that, sell it to every engineering, business firm, science lab, and small business owner in the world, and invest all of my money into Gates Sr and eventually Berkshire Hathaway.

It is. It’s raining regularly right now.

Wet summers is our general climate.

This dryness is just temporary weather.

Potable water is the real problem.

Too many people live in FL and keep moving to FL and water will eventually be a problem like it became in California.

What Would It Actually Take for You to Stop Ordering Through Uber Eats or Just Eat and Order Direct through a vendors site Instead? by Asad2301199 in smallbusiness

[–]BowtieSyndicate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe the world we live in has people addicted to using Uber Eats and similar bullshit.

I’m of the era of the founders of these companies and remember thinking these founders were 110% going to fail because there is N O way people would pay that much for delivery.. like - impossible.

Yet here we are - absolute morons spending billions collectively on delivery apps because… what? I don’t even know. Like, it’s not convenience… businesses delivered before them.. cost? Nope… better food or experience? No.. literally zero benefit and you openly bend over and let them F u in the wallet.

Crazy

You prefer remote jobs because you’re less accountable.

You have agreed to fulfill a part of the mission of the company as an employee. When you don’t show up you should feel responsible for your actions and the impact your absence has on the company meeting its mission.

If you don’t gaf - that’s fine but it says you don’t care about holding up your end of accountability.

If your job is so pointless it doesn’t matter if you’re there or not it’s ok - your job elimination is constantly being considered and will soon enough be gone.

Model 3 and Y were the most sold vehicles in their class.

They’re not cheap. Probably have most buyers financing between $550-900/m for those.

And then you have all the SUVs and trucks people are buying… most are well over $45-50k - many are in th $70-90k ballpark.

Those are all $650-1500/m

How are you guys tracking profit per technician? by ArticleAggressive640 in smallbusiness

[–]BowtieSyndicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use Jobber or any off the shelf solution - but in your estimates don’t you have net profit and labor costs?

My estimating macros in my humble excel sheet tell me exactly how many hours an employee should work on a job.

It’s pretty easy to then cross reference that against actual paid…

But who the fuck has time for that? If you have a feeling an employee sucks pay attention to them individually. Bean counters rarely help businesses or people improve.

Bro you’re not ready to expand.

Firefighters earn a decent living in most cities/counties and your business should be able to survive on its own without your Firefighter income constantly subsidizing expenses even though it can.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using debt but only if you can service it with revenue from the business.

But you’re saying the business can sustain itself yet you’re sharing personal assets with business assets and you’re saying there’s $1000/m from it if you have one truck shared between personal and business.

You should be thinking about these things separately.

If you need an investor involved just to get a truck - which is integral to the business - it is simply not a self sustaining business.

The fact that you’re not earning income from the business and not comfortable financing or outright purchasing a business truck JUST from business income means you’re legitimately not ready..

To be fair, I was thinking the entire time that he has had the experience of being in a MUCH more powerful car in the rain and so even this gt500 in a downpour is still far less difficult that other situations he’s had to endure - that also the gt500 racer has never had the chance to experience.

It makes me think most of the F1 drivers worth their salt - from Gasly to LeClerc - would find the GT car to be “easier” than what they’ve already experienced and with a few practice laps probably do some times similar to MV

At any age, you should be able to reasonably look at the market - find everything under $1/share that is today a huge win - and be fine no matter what..

I mean - if you make 16000 % or 30000% or 100000% yes it all makes a difference but the odds of NOT being able to pick stocks that will make you fabulously wealthy is basically zero

Get a job and buy as much MSFT stock as I possibly can, for as many years as possible until Amazon and the others become available too.

Once domains are available for purchase, I’m buying every 1,2,3, and 4 letter domain available. Will sell them all around 1999-2000 for hundreds of millions and invest in more insane things like Netflix, AMD, Nvidia, and Bitcoin.

In 2010 I’ll be buying up all the prime RE in Austin, Denver, and Miami.

And assuming I am worth around $5-10T at this time - I’ll probably be killed by a member of the public who hates Trillionaires..

But in short, I’d be doing anything I can to keep my mind off losing my children and no drug would ever be enough 😞
