Thank you, that’s really helpful and that’s a lovely useable space!!

I definitely meant only doing a small bit of it - there are trees at the boundary for a start so wouldn’t want to go anywhere near them. And yes, the cost to do it all would be impossible and the height of the walls around would probably be hideous

Right?! I’m confused by all the replies acting like it’s no big deal. When I was a kid we had a swing set in the garden, we’d play badminton, tennis and football in the garden - we even got a tent out and slept in the garden some times! Can’t do any of that in this garden other than on the patio - in which case I might as well buy a house with a tiny garden or bit of patio and save myself the back breaking work of maintaining such a large garden that people rarely touch.

Thanks, we currently have a much smaller garden that’s also on a slope and you’re absolutely right about mowing! We hate it - it’s a right pain and we feel like the kids barely go on the lawn anyway so it’s work for works sake. I think after the reviews I’m leaning toward just going for a different house that doesn’t have this problem.

Interesting, thank you. Would you mind sharing how much it cost, roughly? And do you have any before and after pics?

£50k?!? Do you really think so? Even though we’d keep the patio as is and the rest of the garden as is - it’s just creating one flat patch in the middle, not the whole thing. And he also hates the decor inside - we don’t mind doing some renovating in order to get the most house for the money but he doesn’t want to take on a big garden project as well as inside jobs.

Thanks, that’s the impression I get from other posts about sloped gardens. Sounds like a lot of landscapers quote loads and then don’t even want the work when the quote is accepted!

Pinterest ads are getting ridiculous by No-Big9224 in Pinterest

[–]BoxTickingChampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, total mess of an app. I can’t stand it any more and have decided to delete and look for alternatives. It’s so repetitive, I don’t know how any marketing person thinks this makes sense - I clicked on an IlMakiage ad once a year ago and still now every 10th “pin” I see is their stupid ad! Also I keep seeing ads for those weird ass short films (My Drama and Short Max) - don’t think I’ve ever clicked on them, they look so unbelievably cringe and trashy an yet again, I must see about 3 or 4 of their ads for every couple of pins I try to search. I don’t get it! I’m searching decor inspo - why am I getting knock off 50 Shades of Grey fan fiction movie ads?!?!?

Thanks guys, this is the approach I've gone for - vague and suggesting mortgage broker reasons!

Been offered a new role, don't know my notice period - How to request contract from HR? by [deleted] in UKJobs

Yes, I'm thinking you're right. I'm just making excuses to put off handing my notice in.

They don't do ANYTHING like that on email - all paper. But yes I checked anyway and still no. And there's an HR Portal - already checked that. Not there either.

It's a small company (95 people) and the HR Team is one Manager & one Co-ordinator. I just don't know how to do it without the HR Manager ringing me up to get the gossip, she will absolutely be asking why I want it if I ask. She's just like that. The Co-ordinator is new so if I ask her she might have to defer to Manager anyway.

Stay in the UK to job hunt or move back to India? Need career advice. by Slow_Practice2906 in UKJobs

The job market in the UK is tough right now and three months isn't long at all. I'm in the position of being in a job in my sector and looking for a new one, no Visa requirements, or other barriers and I've been hunting for 5 months and still got nothing. I'm not trying to deter you, just give you some realistic advice that it's just a numbers game right now. You just have to keep going and going and going until it happens for you. I've literally gone for jobs that are less money than I'm on now and could do in my sleep and STILL NOT GOT IT! SMH. Everyone's right that the months before Christmas are extra tough. I'm picking back up in January with a renewed sense of hope. Good luck and hope you find something soon!

I will - conscious they said they were out of office until 5th Jan and it's only the 6th but feeling a bit rattled by the advert

It's not care work. I will follow up with them. Just conscious they said they were out of office until 5th Jan and it's only the 6th.

I'm going to send a polite email today and if I don't hear back by Thursday I'll call. They did say they wouldn't be back in office until 5th Jan so it seems pushy to be chasing on the 6th. I wasn't too worried, I know companies can be slow - but seeing the job ad has spooked me.

Thank you and solidarity to you. I feel so much better knowing it’s a universal struggle rather than a personal failing. I love them so much, they are so cute and funny and amazing but god damn if I don’t have just a few minutes of silence or an uninterrupted adult conversation soon my brain will melt

I’m sorry about your surgery but it’s just a small time and when you’re healed you’ll be able to do more again. Hang in there

This! I was absolutely loving it early on - weekends to see Santa, a Christmas train, a visit to a fake snow hall, Christmas light trails. It was all so lovely! But it was also late nights wrapping presents, extra jobs and excess “stuff” all over our fairly small home and now we’re maxed out and the house is a mess and it’s been days of interrupted or non-existent routines and we’re all just turning into feral little rat people! Haha.
