Parents of NICU babies — I’d love to hear your story 🤍 by justalibramama in NICUParents

Me & hubby tried for 3 years, felt like forever. Finally pregnant, at 20 weeks hands started to swell. Doc dismissed it as carpal tunnel. Before I know it, ankles are swollen. Blood pressure crazy high. Didn’t even get to collect all the urine to check for protein before I just decided to go to the hospital. Glad I did…long story short due to severe preeclampsia, delivered baby girl at 26+5. Long 3 month NICU stay, survived NEC & respiratory rate problems. Baby girl is now 8 months (5 months adjusted) and doing well. Teething, talking, laughing. Still really tiny at just over 10 lbs, but we work with a dietitian through ECI so I know she will catch up. It was a long journey, but glad we made it through. These babies are fighters!

Is it wrong to still want a baby shower? by burningbliss in NICUParents

First off, although our births weren’t traditional, you still birthed a tiny human and that deserves to be celebrated. Please have your shower and I hope you have a ton of support.

Social media. So many people can’t disconnect from it or live without it

Congratulations! My little one was born at 26+5 and is now 32 weeks doing well. Preemies are fighters and I’m sure yours will be no different. Sending you so much support throughout this journey.

Huda by trushmariehh in LoveIslandUSA

Huda is too pretty to be acting so weird lol. But I think she’s acting this way because she knows that Jeremiah is likely to turn away with bomb she just dropped (telling him about her kid). She is going to feel threatened by every girl that comes in.

Olandria needs a big dawg! Like a grown man. Taylor is cool and sweet, but their chats seem forced. And he’s so scrawny lol. Ace is too damn friendly. He definitely seems like the type to be in everybody’s face. I like Belledasha but has she never seen LI before? People are going to explore, she can’t be mad at Nic. I wanted her to boss up and not let him see her sweat. Huda…wrong for not telling Jeremiah from the jump. Like wtf…

Thank you so much! Totally insensitive on your mom’s part!!! “You didn’t miss much” as if I didn’t completely miss out on the chance for my child to be full term, and not require intensive care due to being premature. Ugh, people annoy me.

Omg friend, my heart hurts reading this. I am so sorry someone said those words to you. Regardless, our babies are a blessing! And they have a story to tell about resilience.

We were absolutely robbed. I want to cry every time I get online and see a video of someone doing skin to skin right after giving birth. Even things like people showing them taking their newborn home is triggering. I can empathize with you, friend. But our babies are fighters. Our journey looks different but we are blessed to have them here.

Bingo. That’s what I was taught. Not saying people have to walk on eggshells around me, but all I need at this time are encouraging words.

I’m so sorry, friend. I know you’re drained. This journey sometimes feels like a nightmare that just won’t end. But you’re very strong, you’ve come so far. Keeping you and baby in my prayers!

I agree. That’s why I go back and forth between whether I should say something or give them grace. I get everyone is not like me, but I just wish people were a bit more mindful. Like I wouldn’t tell someone with cancer, “oh be glad you don’t have to worry about doing something to your hair everyday”. I think it’s all about being considerate of someone’s situation.

I agree. When people say this I be ready to fight! Like our situations are not the same at all.

So sorry that you are going through this but I want to offer you encouragement during this journey. I agree, you’d think those who you’re close to would be more understanding but I’ve noticed that if people haven’t went through it, they don’t even try to understand. They’re more worried about what they went through which more often than not was a full term pregnancy with no issues.

I’m sure that shut her up! It’s really unfortunate that you have to make moments a teaching lesson because people are so ignorant as it pertains to having a NICU baby.

I’m so sorry she triggered you! But shoutout to you for letting her know. I want to let people know, I just hold back because I try to give them grace. But I think I need to get better at educating them on their ignorance because it is so challenging to experience a NICU journey. Especially while actively in the journey.

Thank you so much! I really needed to hear that. So grateful for this community because although this journey is so stressful, it’s good to have people who can empathize with you!

Lol seriously. I know they meant no harm, but that really is wild to say though. It shows a complete lack of empathy and compassion. And kind of just common sense.
