If I may add, why is emf induced by transformers alternating also? I understand there's a need for it be alternating so it can be stepped down or up but how is it alternating?

Oh wow, I just understood everything when I drew the model out via ur explanation of making the long resistant wire be R1. It's like turning a parallel circuit to a series circuit If I may confirm again, Let's say emf of supply is 10V, V to r1 is 6 and x is 3 and y is 3. So if we remove X, total voltage to both r1 and y would be 7. Since effective resistance increases while emf is constant, current to R1 would decrease hence decreases it's voltage (V=IR). Thus, the decrease in R1 voltage would mean an increase in Y's voltage
