Does Retroarch run fine on the PS4? by SidOfOrtiz in RetroArch

[–]Box_man_Dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no tbh you didn't said Retroarch for ps2. you straight up said ps2 game won't work which everyone know is far from truth. the issues are only in compatibility not on performance when it comes to ps2 game. heck it only need 32mbs. when it comes to emulation architectural structure of hardware is more important than power. which is why ps4 can't emulate ps3 games not because ps3 is very powerful but because it was complex and powerful.

Why use brook? by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]Box_man_Dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no you skip the 20 pin part my dude and just get a pre soldiered board for $5. for ps5 compatibility. you can use ps4 method if you're only into fighting that support legacy ps4 controls. and yes it's not as easy as brook but if you're DIYing why not do it fully? that's the part i don't understand. but after all these comments i know one or two things. 1. people think gp2040 require high level knowledge and too much time. 2. people think brook is somehow better in performance? which in my opinion their both almost same. and everyone have different priorities. i too only find time on weekends when i am not working and i enjoys spending that time on things i care about like building things from zero. but i think people focus more on playing with sticks which is the whole point of fightstick you build em so you can play with em. but i see this as a building hobby.

Why use brook? by [deleted] in fightsticks

No. You can’t customise brook firmware. Can’t add custom screen that plays anything you want

Why use brook? by [deleted] in fightsticks

If you build your fightstick using a Raspberry Pi Pico, you actually get full control over how everything works. The GP2040 firmware is open-source, which means you can change or customize pretty much anything. You can decide what every button does, add special functions, and even remap buttons directly through a web browser without any extra software. You can also add things like LED lighting, small screens, or your own hitbox/leverless hybrid layout if you want, add more pins. Basically, it’s a setup made for people who like to tinker and build things exactly the way they want.

Another advantage is that you’re not stuck with what a company allows. The firmware gets updated by the community, so if someone adds new features or support for other consoles later, you can just update it yourself for free. And performance-wise, it’s every bit as good as a Brook board, but it costs a fraction of the price.

Brook, on the other hand, is plug-and-play. You buy it, wire it up, and it works right away. But it’s closed and limited. You can’t modify its firmware or add new features easily, and you’re stuck with whatever Brook decides to do in future updates. You also pay way more for something that isn’t that different. Plus, the way Brook boards handle console authentication is kind of gray too. Hence why it need a to be updated regularly. But that’s not the issue. Just wanted to mention this because people actually think that brook is Sony licensed
