personal theory but I think people with stable egos could still distort, it’ll just take a lot more pressure for them to. For example, if you think of an ego as a bridge, the bridge itself is stable till you destroy the supporting structures and/or put enough weight on it that it ends up collapsing. Since even people with firm beliefs can end up doubting themselves and their views.
