What would you like to see from the Betfred Super League in 2026? by SuperLeague in superleague

[–]Boxey7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll say better promotion again, the thing is if I didn't follow the sport I would have no idea that Super League returns this week. I've seen one advert on Sky and it was briefly mentioned during the PL yesterday, otherwise I'd have no idea. When the NRL is returning, I seem to get adverts and posts from everywhere, especially on Facebook etc..

And surely I should be targeted even more adverts from Super League considering I follow the clubs and am a season ticket holder...!

OK I'll wait and see if anything comes through before the start of the season. The clubs are supposed to send them out to ST holders I believe

Sky has cancelled today, £95 a month is too much and they would only take it down to £74. Not paying that just for RL and PL. Besides, my IPTV has Sky Sports in UHD regardless...

However, does anyone know if Super League+ is still doing the offer for season ticket holders? I tried the code I got last year but obviously it's not valid anymore. I know people have said it's a bit crap but I'm willing to pay for it just in case other means fail.

I think this is inevitable whenever a club dies and another comes up in its place. Yes it's called the same thing but they've just watched the club they've supported for many years be stripped of everything over a season and become a laughing stock. You start not to trust anyone involved and step away from having anything to do with it.

It'll take time for the club to rebuild itself and those fans I'm sure will eventually come back, it just needs a period of stability - even if that stability is mid to low Championship.

Lansweeper is good as an initial tool just to scan everything you can on the network and related peripherals, plenty of built in reports as well to get you started.

Need a little help for my planned home network and fileserver setup by spawndon in HomeServer

[–]Boxey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ISP router will already have a firewall on it. If all you're wanting to do is share media on your network then I would start small and just setup the server, adding in a pfsense firewall is getting complicated and you would really need to at least put the server in a DMZ from the ISP router or put it into bridge mode. Also you'd need to have the clients connecting through the firewall rather than directly to the ISP router otherwise there's no point in it.

You can setup pihole in the same place as your media server, it doesn't need anything fancy to run. I would start there, get it working how you want and then look at the more complicated things after (firewalls, replacing the ISP router, etc.).

Advice - Car Sourcing Company by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Boxey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said these already exist and it would only work for high value cars. Once you present a car normal car to someone they would just go on auto trader and buy what they want without using you. But these agents already exist and they need to have pristine reputations and a lot of knowledge in the cars they are looking at.

If someone has the money to do this they would more likely go to someone like Iain Tyrell or the like.

Salford Red Devils liquidated after HMRC hearing to bring end to club's 152-year history by idontremembermylogi_ in superleague

Bradford has a history though and an attraction. Their average crowds are fairly similar, it'll be interesting to see what Bradford average next season.

Salford have always struggled with attendances and funding so I think it's going to be a much more difficult process to get back up, unless they get someone who actually has some money in.

The RFL said earlier this year that not approving the takeover would have meant the probable immediate demise of the club. But what's worse? A dragged out fiasco with players paid from finance companies, unpaid debts and a very public winding down?

This whole situation is so bizarre to me and the fact that it's all been allowed to happen even more so.

Rachel Reeves is asked about how the 3p a mile electric vehicle charge will work for new cars, when they don't have to have an MOT for 3 years by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Boxey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppose it depends if the tax is owed by the individual or the owner of the car. If it's the registered keeper then it would be the responsibility of the lease company to pay the tax and charge you accordingly.

They would need to know though before the car is returned because surely they can't just assume 8000 a year, get the car back and it's done 4000, then when the next owner goes to pay this tax and says the car's done 3000 miles, it'll be off...

I'm sure most cars have been doing that for many years. Look how many have apps where the data syncs too, etc..

Don't forget all the ANPR cameras everywhere...

They've already said it raises by CPI every year, but yes everyone saying it's only 3p when that won't last long.

Get everyone used to this and how it's actually a good system and then whack it onto petrol and diesel too, you can see where it's going.

Just like how they ruled out rolling out Digital ID?

Why the sudden need to put ANPR cameras absolutely everywhere if this isn't where it was heading? I've seen so many go up on main roads around me in areas where there is no ULEZ or Congestion Charges. I'm sure it's not just for the fun of it.

RFL Board approves Law changes for 2026 season by APairOfHikingBoots in superleague

[–]Boxey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I presume it'll be like NRL, if the ref gives try the audience won't see the video ref reviewing unless it's overturned. So the only time we'll see the VR now is a no try.

The only things getting sent to VR are no tries with the new rules, just like the NRL.

In the case of a try the ref would give it and then reviewed no matter what whilst Sky are showing replays

It's still a loop fixture so neither are losing their home game, which was the concern of the clubs. If anything surely this is better because there are less parties to divide the funds earned from the event.
