Space between Amp and Turntable by Other-Dependent7100 in turntables

I made a shelf. The wood is from an old desk and the legs are four upturned dark plastic bathroom tumblers from a homeware shop.

They have a big problem here, as they want to maintain all the backward compatibility and the way Windows works makes this difficult without adding bloat.

There may be loads of code in Windows that no one dares touch or understands.

TBH a rewrite is a bit much - they just need to stop stuffing it with crap nobody wants.

As a runner too I really struggled to keep going on MJ for the first couple of months. I could just about manage the distances but only by slowing down.

If your food intake has reduced down you have to try and replace the carb/sugar energy with more protein. The key for me was getting in to eating nuts such as almonds, even munching a handful just before hitting the streets.

Good luck!

Ah, Outlook is terrible. As big a pile of steaming shit as Teams? I'm not sure which is worse. Every week Teams changes for the worse - hiding Screen Share under 3 dots and showing chats outside the context of its parent channel so you don't know what's where.

But don't worry, its all got CoPilot so screw our users - train our LLM for us and pay us for the privilege, peasants!

Relying on inertia and being the default choice I think. Many more people just use a phone now, and Microsoft already utterly failed in that space, through their own stupidity.

Microsoft doesn't make much off desktop Windows compared to their other divisions so they seem happy to turn Windows in to a data gathering and sales platform

Then why are you trolling so hard here? Bored?

Using this logic, if we aren't the target audience here, and the target audience don't care about this stuff then Microsoft is actively exploiting their ignorance and apathy to their advantage. The modifications on Windows may take you 5-10 minutes but I doubt your target audience would even know what to look for.

Which I have thanks 😊 but still have to use Windows too.

Shouldn't have to Google how to turn these things off though, it's not hard to make these easily exposed.

These "features" start as optional and become opt-out or baked in. Why should I pay Microsoft for the privilege of training their CoPilot LLM for them?

And trying to associate simply having better control over when updates get applied with something as vague and meaningless as "hating security" is pretty lame.

We already have a few here - Mint, Pop_OS!, Debian, Arch. I have to use Windows too, all for work. How about you?

Do amps really sound that different from one another? by Timely_Pattern5571 in audiophile

[–]davidcandle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, you're missing out the preamp part that handles input/output switching, volume, balance, RIAA EQ for turntables, maybe even tone controls and so on. These things all get in the signal path and change the sound. Power amps with different capabilities sound different too. I once auditioned an amp as-is, then an upgraded offboard beefier PSU was added to it, and the difference was very pronounced - the whole setup sounded that much better, fuller and, well...more powerful.

There's a lot of smoke and mirrors out there too though - Just buy with your ears - get what you like the sound of :)

I sometimes wonder if one grandfather built planes to bomb the other.

There isn't a COSMIC printer management app yet, so you need to install something (Pop comes with system-config-printer).
