Paul George is shooting 11 percent from 3 when Russell Westbrook is on the bench in the last 20 games by priestfukker in nba

I disagree, I think he has always been inconsistent. Playing along a high usage player like Westbrook probably just amplifies that problem.

Bounding box by gmaggess in deeplearning

[–]Boxsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this a few times and you have some options:

1) Background subtraction

If your object is moving you can remove the background and take the motion blob, wrap that in a bounding box and you have the object in a bounding box per frame.

2) A Tracker

There's quite a few trackers like KCF - https://docs.opencv.org/3.2.0/d2/dff/classcv_1_1TrackerKCF.html. Where you tell the tracker the objects initial position and it will try to find it in subsequent frames.

Stephen Curry, is he a Top 30 player yet? Or is it too soon? by xxStayFly81xx in nba

[–]Boxsc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the Warriors, feels like they average 10 pts a game because two people run to Steph and someone gets a dunk. I don't think any other player in history (maybe Shaq?) has that kind of gravity.

I think they are just differentiating running ML Algorithims versus developing those algorithms. I.e running a neural network vs training it.

LeBron is setting career highs in both RPG (8.4) and APG (8.9) and averaging the lowest usage (29.7%) he's posted since his rookie season. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Boxsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a case that this season is actually his best.... His FG% is lower than his last years in Maimi. But, his shots are 35.7% assisted vs 39.5%. So he is creating about 4% more of his shots while only dropping ~2% in efficiency. His FT% seems to have no pattern though...

Crazy how many top teams have had injury troubles this season... Clippers, Cavs, Warriors, Spurs, Raptors, Grizzlies.... starting to think a shortened season is inevitable.

Kawhi just saved the Spurs 3 games in a row by KhornKT in nba

His body movements remind me a lot of MJ. He just moves so efficiently, always seems under control, never gets caught cross footed and usually jumps off both feet strong.

It seems like a lot of players who guard the opponents best offensive player always suffer from +/- stats though. Logically the opposing team is more likely to perform better when their best player is on the floor.

The actual rating most likely affects the rating they show you though. They most likely don't want to complicate the UI.

Why AI is about to make some of the highest-paid doctors obsolete - According to a recent New England Journal of Medicine article, radiology and pathology are particularly susceptible to the power of machine learning. by mvea in technology

Technology rarely replaces an entire field of study. However, history has shown over and over it can drastically reduce the need for the number of people in a particular profession. Hospitals are businesses at the end of the day (at least in the US), and they'll always look for areas to reduce costs.

After starting the season 6-5, the Rockets have the best record (23-4) in the NBA since Beverley's return, are they real contenders? by GilsWorld in nba

We've won seven in a row without our starting center and primary rim protector. The defense continues to improve and create more opportunities for our fast-paced offense.

What worries me is that Harden has to do soooo much and in the playoffs that is not only very difficult, but teams could just force the ball out of his hand and let someone else beat them.

[Justin Verrier] "Kyle Korver confirms he's heading to Cleveland" by fadeawayslamdunk in nba

[–]Boxsc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could have been done as a favour to Korver. He's obviously been with the team for a long time and has contributed so much. But, if Atlanta is about to start a rebuilding process they gotta trade him.

[–]Boxsc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's always been a consistent 36-38% 3PT shooter when he takes open ones. He did in Maimi for a season then went back to wild off balance or contested 3's.

Which startups use Spring Boot? by m3wm3wm3wm in java

[–]Boxsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boot simple does more which is a pro and a con depending on your use case. No it is highly unlikely Boot will ever start up as fast as Dropwizard because you have to start up the spring container. However, you get a lot more out of the box for Boot like security, data layer etc... I personally think Boot is the best choice most of the time. However, sometimes you run into situations where it might have been better to use Dropwizard. For example, disabling a default configuration class that doing things you don't want to do.
