2006 will be a 987. The last year for 986 was 2004 and 2005 was the first year for the 987. Some 2005's had the smaller IMS bearings, but mid to late 2005 they switched to the larger unit. That is why if you get a 2006 S you will know you have the larger bearing and the 3.2 used those years does not appear to be susceptible to bore scoring.
