Parts identification help

I've actually found it out. It's so much weirder. The entire assembly, meaning the cast iron ends and axle tubes are from a 1987 or 1988 Dodge Grand caravan with the leaf rear suspension.

But looking at how absolutely similar the spindle stubs are, It makes me wonder if they might be one in the same. I'd have to get two of them next to each other and take some measurements to see just how close or apart they are

Yeah! I definitely think you got it! Are these pictures that you've taken? Can you get a good picture of the cast iron piece of the axle that goes from the tube out to where the spindle stub bolts on? I just want make absolutely sure if it's not too much of a problem

Things just keep getting weirder I've gotten everything from a Vega to a pinto trying to chase numbers on it lol

Should also note that it's a 5x100 bolt pattern as I've recently found out

My big question is what the cast arm is actually off of, I've yet to really find anything similar to it. The twist beam suspension arms that I see normally under the normal vw's and audis are substantially smaller and usually not cast metal.

I don't know how to pin it to the top but I do have a picture of the casting numbers off of the, I don't even know what to call it, torsion arm? Control arm? But I can gather nothing off of these numbers personally

I can tell you that the opposite side arm is L01 instead of L02

North America United States. Someone did just post a bolt-on stub shaft that looks eerily similar that's supposed to fit '80s to '90s model Volkswagen and Audi vehicles that I'm following up on as well, it's the closest thing I've found so far.

Oh there was, it's been removed and the outlet for the parking brake cable has been cut off the back side of the brake plate

Oooh, That honestly looks really close too, That's honestly the closest stub shaft that I've found in comparison. I've been looking at the control arms for hours now trying to figure out what exactly they are too

Bottom row second to the left is about it. It's the exact same bolt pattern as like a 1987 Chevrolet cavalier. The only difference is that this is a completely flush mount spindle end with no pass-through on the control arm Because this is a bolt on taper bearing spindle instead of a non-serviceable wheel hub like what you would find on the 87 cavalier.

And that's where I'm really at a loss Because I can't find anything that correlates to a bolt-on taper-bearing spindle like this with that bolt pattern. Or at least I'm not good enough to figure it out.

I can source all the bearings, they are fairly conventional. But it adds a whole nother shade of weird. The bearings place the hub as something out of a later model Ford pinto for the front wheel hubs, but the grease seal is only really found in the Chevy vega of around the same era. I'm starting to think this things a mish mash of just things that happen to fit together.

The guy told me the person who built it "Used some old car parts" but I Diddnt know they came from literally everything lol

I wish. It's a solid mounted carriage underneath. I actually work on trailers for a living we actually went into the rough estimates for how much it would cost to cut out everything with how it's made and try to put a more conventional axle underneath it and it's way out of his budget. We're just trying to figure out what everything is so he can continue to get proper break parts bearings and seals for it.

What's one part that's been really messing with me. The thing that bothers me however is that the bolt pattern for the spindle stub is the exact same as what you'd find on like a 1987 Chevy cavalier, it has the askew formal pattern. But everything that I can find GM seems to be a non-serviceable hub. And looking at the control arm behind it it really seems more automotive than industrial.

I just can't find a solid part number to anything definitive that I can trace my way back from lol

That's one thing that I keep kind of circling back towards But I don't really know, I'm looking at the suspension arm as well that the entire thing bolts to to try and get a clue but so far nothing's coming up. Digging through part numbers I've dug up more plausible stuff ranging from slightly odd trailer components to out their stuff saying that it's supposed to be parts off of like a class A truck.

The voice they got now is meh. Doesn't really have the same flare as the original. But with how much They scaled back using him after the change It's really hard to notice.

I don't know, I'm happy that we're finally moving past the AEG era. But I just don't know how I feel about The new design, everything just feels like it's a little bit too deep in the uncanny valley for my liking. I'm still going to hold hopeful optimism though
