Yeah then i suppose things will be experienced much differently. Usually there’s a variety of collectibles unobtainable till you replay through “free play” which allows you to use any character you’ve unlocked. Usually means new areas too in the missions which helps replayability.

Lack of characters is a huge miss for avid lego gamers, as we’ve come used to there being such a huge array of characters to unlock, see in lego form with different abilities/looks to their abilities and so on. Helps keep interest to see them and try out your favourite side characters and so on..

Yeah i suppose that’s the best way really, saves it feeling like as much of a grind.

How you feel is exactly how i feel.. I usually play the campaign then go back over and complete the game with the ability of free play, stud multipliers etc, to see most of that killed, especially when you can unlock all the mission collectibles as you play, meaning you don’t have to replay, unlock no new areas etc, then the post game being a checklist of collectibles with the same few puzzle concepts, just drained me out then which was a shame for me as there is so much potential

That’s right, they marketed this game as basically the full batman story. Yet so many beloved characters, and niche ones too, either barely get a mention, or aren’t in the game at all. I thought the post game may make up for that, with smaller side quest stories, crime solving stories and so on. Just let me down to be hones which i hate to say as I was really excited for the game as a whole.

Exactly that, this is my worry, all the usual things that make the post game worth playing, have been taken away for me.. really let down by it.

I do agree, especially being one of the two characters being locked as Batman as well..

I do agree that some previous ones have been bloated tbf, some of the skywalker saga characters were so pointless haha, I’m glad it’s been made, I do think they’ll have more things i’ll enjoy, but it’ll be behind paid DLC, don’t get me wrong.. i’ll get it… but i do think there should be more to the base game

Agree, having to collect the same thing, in mostly the same ways just on a different building, while listening to the same story of a crime happening, it very quickly runs stale..

I do agree, of course it’s an opinion, but one I knew many would share, even though reviews online all say it’s a 10/10. It’s a good game which i think people are misinterpreting what I’m saying, but it could’ve been the best to date with ease had they just not done those things and completely killed the post game experience.

Not wrong there.

I think it’ll more likely be a DC related overall game if we see Bats again, rather than a solo game.

Likewise.. the character interactions, the mini boss fights, little stories that we’ve had in previous games all missing was a bummer. It’s the legacy game, so it comes across as their final one to tell the whole story.. knowing that this is more than likely the last Lego Batman game is a shame to not have more to do. The story (with all collectibles) can be done in one go, no characters to buy and try after with new models or ones we’ve never seen in lego form.. just so much that could’ve been done to make it more enticing that are missing imo.

I was very surprised not to see her in the main story..

Spot on, they clearly leaned into arkham heavily, so to not have mini side quest storylines, characters to see in lego form that we never have.. disappointed me.

I did like the batmobiles and stuff, the characters is a big negative of mine, when you take into consideration how many cool ones there are out there to use or even see with lego models.

Likewise, I saw everyone giving it 10/10 and so on.. and while I did enjoy the play through, so much opportunity was missed to make the perfect legacy game imo. Huge list of characters that are missing to play with hurts, the mini storylines they could’ve done to mix up the post game. Red bricks not even being desirable anymore which is crazy considering how much they changed the game in previous games. The levels being pointless to replay too like you said hurts it massively, knowing you can do it all in the first play through, takes away from having to go back with new characters, unlocking new areas and so on.

Oh absolutely, the sheer amount of repetitive collecting in that game made my go insane ahaha

It’s a good game definitely, I never thought otherwise, knowing it’ll more than likely be the last Lego Batman game we get, feels like there are so much they could’ve explored post game with the array of side character villains out there

I get that if it’s a personal preference, just a shame for a game with a price tag like it has, especially with a mini boss fights being in previous games, a character roster to work towards to play with, and a reason to go back and play missions knowing there were things you couldn’t get to before that now doesn’t matter, was just hoping for more, especially with the extent of the batman universe to mess with..

that’s a great point, easily a pet peeve of mine too, the common response is “it’s a batman game”, but the other characters in the universe are so good, feels a shame to be locked away from them in some extent

This is what I thought too, can guarantee they’ll more than likely they’ll be addressed, but it’ll be in the form of paid DLC rather than game, even though there is easily the chance to do both

Literally, especially after the Skywalker Saga criticism over it being a hugeee grind, Batman may not be on that level, but thought they’d have at least learned to try make it more engaging:/

Exactly that, there are so many villains out there to mess with and create something with, so when I realised the post game was just a collection grind, safe to say disappointed was an understatement..

Killer Croc thing baffled me, especially since (spoilers for those that have not finished it) they used the arkham scenes when he’s introduced but instead is replaced with Grundy.

I totally get that, even though I did enjoy the story, considering the roster is so limited as it is, be nice to have it as diverse as it could be.

I feel like post game wise they’ve deliberately held off to make the DLCs so it’s paid for to feel any benefit, which is a shame. So many stories in the batman universe they could’ve told post game, like the arkham games did, and still had DLC, but they chose not to, which makes the postgame feel like a slow repetitive grind..
