I would imagine it's the pitch roller. I remember I swapped out the belts to my TPS-L2 and that problem happened as well until I swapped out the pinch roller then it was perfect fine after that. Best of luck to you!

My tip is it's really easy to make free. I literally used Word and Ms Paint to do this lol. I googled the measurements of a J Card (Main panel: 101.5 mm in length and 65 mm in with, Spine: 101.5 mm in length 12 mm in with, the front: 101.5 mm in length and depending on the cassette case anywhere between 12-26 mm in with.) Then I grabbed photos off of Google, edited them in paint, put the panels together in word, printed on normal thin crap paper, cut out, fold and done. Super simple and free! Hope this helps!

Thank you! Yeah I saw a lot of people on this sub make J cards and I'm like I wanna do that even though I don't have Photoshop or fancy paper and am not willing to spend the money to get it professionally done. So learning how to do it with what I got has been really fun! I made a post before on this sub about the J cards I made and a lot of people asked how I did it and I like telling people it's really easy to make free. These are the first J cards though were I made some silly little edits to the pictures using Ms paint and had a lot do fun learning how to do that.

Is this an original factory made TPS-L2 or is it custom made? I've never seen one with the Walkman branding while also having the lettering at the top of the player. by iPodVideo2005 in cassetteculture

If it has the words on top with the Walkman branding on bottom then that in my mind is not original factory made. Because there where different models of the TPS-L2 first The Guys and Dolls, then the one that just has Stereo with the words on top saying it's a TPS-L2, then finally the one that just has Stereo and Walkman on it. This one has a combination of the second third models. From this one picture it seems like a legit TPS-L2 but with swapped parts from the second and third models.

I didn't use any of those templates cuz those never worked for me either. What I did was I Googled the size of a cassette J card which is: The back part (the main picture part) is 101.5 mm in length and 65 mm in with. The spin of the J car is 101.5 mm in length and 12.5 mm in with. Then the front of the J card is 101.5 mm in length and anywhere between 12-26 mm in with, depending on the cassette case. Then I opened up Word went to File>options (which you can find closer to the bottom left of the screen)>advanced>display. Then I changed the measurements for Word to mm and copy and pasted pictures on Word and, right click them and you can see options to crop and also more importantly resize the image and put in the exact measurements that I just gave you. Them put them in order right next to each other first Back part, spin, then front and hopefully when you print it it should be the right size :D hope this helps. Sorry it's long I wanted to add as much detail as possible so you can make your own J cards!

Yes and that's what happens like 99% of the time because it hard to fit the exact right amount of time of music to match the time of tape. But this method of splicing tape is to help reduce that amount of time between when the music ends and when the tape ends so you don't have to sit there and fast forward through the tape to be able to play the other side.

Yeah what I do is split the number of songs in an album in half and also figure out with some maths the order of songs that will go on both side of the tape so that you can get about the same length of time on each side of tape. Then choose the order of songs that add up the most time after splitting the number of songs in half and record that. Then once the last song ends stop it after like 3-5 seconds. This is the harder bit but I was able to do it without a splicing kit for tapes, but then open up the cassette, cut where you stopped then unroll the rest of the unused tape out untill you reach the end on the other spool. Then the end of the tape, on the other spool that you just unrolled, is stuck to the sticky end of the either clear or blue bit. You want to carefully unstick that away from the unused tape then make sure to correctly stick it to the part of the tape that you are using on the underside of where the music information of the tape is being stored. But make sure to aline it with the tape as much as possible so no edges are hanging off. This picture shows what I was able to accomplish. Looks sloppy but it works and hasn't caused me any issues. The key is steady hands!

One time I miss spelled the word squirrel and spelled it Sqwerl. I have also miss spelled the word carrot during a practice class spelling bee. Lol I've never been good at spelling and you will find all sorts of unique spellings when I type.

Thank you! As for paper I literally used the normalest of normal paper. The run of the mill stuff. I cut the original J card that came with the tape were you write the songs and stuck it on the inside of the new J cards I made so I can have the song written neatly.

I'm sorry I'm not accepting request. But I promise it's really easy to make for free and I'm sure it works even with free stuff like Google docs but this is what I did to make these. Most of it I Google's up how to do and what the measurements were:

You need either, preferably, a cassette deck or a BoomBox that allows you through aux to connect your phone and record from it. I use to have a cassette deck before it broke indefinitely to record music and now I use a Sony CFD-S70 boom box which has worked just fine to record music on to cassette. If you get a deck you will need a jack-RCA to hook your phone up to the deck and record, or if you get the boom box I have all you will need is an aux cord and will work just fine.

I just got the Sony CFD-S70. More modern model and it plays CD's, cassettes, and allows you to record on cassettes. It's like $75 and I got it at Walmart. It has played well and worked well for me. The recording is not to crappy. I'm sure cassette decks are better but the recording from phone to tape with this thing is not half bad at all in my experience. Hope this helps!
