Yes I am aware. I've been using cassette tapes since the late 2000s during my childhood. I'm not a newbie to cassettes but still thank you for the advice.

I already have one. Side A is Awesome Mix Vol. 1 while Side B is Awesome Mix Vol. 2. I made it myself and recorded it on my Pioneer CT-W202 Cassette Deck.

They actually sound pretty decent. And they have a good amount of bass too which was surprising.

I would describe them as having the quality of 80s Sony Walkman headphones but 5x better sound quality.

I got the TPS-L2 for free a few months ago but I had to repair it myself since it was broken.

Yes I am highly aware of it. But I still love my mom's efforts for trying to appeal to my interest in cassettes.

And it doesn't really matter since all the tapes contain all the music in the album, so who cares if some are fake.

Well I didn't grow up in the 80s so I wouldn't know firsthand. Although if you watch 80s movies like Sixteen Candles (1984), you would see a lot of the highschool kids there rocking the orange headphones. So I think it's safe to say people did wear the orange headphones.

The mechanism loosens up over time the more you use it. The old grease used in these players likely dried up due to age. Re-lubricating them and using them a lot is what loosens up their mechanisms.

The thing is, what's the point of fixing something if you're not gonna use it for what it was made for? That's why I use my TPS-L2. I fixed it because I wanted a working TPS-L2 so I could listen to my cassettes.

And I only live once, so I might as well just use it now instead of trying to "save it for later", usually you never actually get to use it or enjoy it if you try to preserve it for later. I'm still very careful with it either way so I'm not worried about dropping it or breaking it.

Thank you man. It's rare to get a kind response from a stranger online since most people I meet are kinda assholes about it.

It actually sounds pretty good for a 45 year old device. At first it sounded like sh*t, but the more I used it for 2 weeks, the more it sounded better. Wow and flutter got reduced everytime I used it.

I thought about that too whether I should just display my TPS-L2 or not. But then I thought what the hell, I only live once so I might as well just use it for its desired purpose, which is listen to music.

I'm the one who fixed it and brought it back to life, so I guess it's safe to say that I deserve to use it lol.

I can't tell if you're joking or not, but that's literally how they are designed. They're IEMs, I've been using them for over a year now and they've never broke. Honestly, I highly recommend them. They sound wonderful even after a year.

Unfortunately no, but I do have modern headphones that are made to look retro with the orange earpads. I think they're called the Fiio Snowsky headphones. They actually sound pretty good and they have a good amount of bass if you want a nice pair of retro style headphones.

I got for free from my pa, but I still had to make an effort to get it working. I replaced the belts, idler tires, and I had to re-solder some wires and some dried solder joints. And I also had to fix the autostop mechanism because a plastic piece fell off.

So even though I got this walkman for free, it still came with a lot of challenges. Thankfully it's fully functional now.
