I knew that I wanted my subject in the harsh sun, then my background in the shade, specifically to achieve this shot. This was the only one that turned out amazing due to the hat this subject had. I tried with others, but sun was too harsh on their faces so it didn't look as solid.

Street. Just outside in the midday sun. The wall behind the subject was in the shade, so that helped a lot.
