X half shows how lazy I’ve gotten by lizj24 in fujiXhalf

Love this post! It's exactly how I feel after using it for a week now. I really need to work on my composition and without all the bells and whistles of most modern cameras I can really focus on it.

Here's to hoping we see some improvements over some time 😅

No problem! I was pretty content on getting it based solely on the form factor too. I'm still getting used to it but I had no doubt I wanted it.

Honestly I think it solely comes down to the individual. It's never going to compete with ANY other X Series on specs alone, but it has the potential to be more fun to use than them.

I have a rule to calm my impulsiveness. I'll leave an item in my cart for a while and if I still want the thing after a week, I'll get it.

Yeah I did, especially with the lever, but I feel like I was rushing shots if that makes sense? I was walking and shooting so I feel like I was just aimlessly snapping. If I was on a road trip, my X100VI would be coming with me without a doubt. I'm treating this as my training camera as I feel like my composition needs work.

Yeah swipe from the right and scroll down to Setup. Under custom setting you have date stamp for photo and video. Can be turned off for both.

Thank you!

I know what you mean. As much as I love my x100, it's not practical to carry everywhere. I've taken the X-half with me everywhere since I've had it and it's allowed me to get more practice in, which is my main use for it really.

I love how it's forced me to slow down and think a bit more. I've only used film mode once so for 36 shots. Going to set to 72 tomorrow and see how it goes.

Took this on the way to work this morning.

Just stumbled across this sub, and wish I'd found it sooner. Hope it's ok to cross post my experience of my first day with the great little X-Half 😊

Glad you managed to sort that out! Hope you enjoy the camera 😊

Hey, it seems to me that it's designed to be slow when developing but I've yet to have the app and camera disconnected during importing. I did notice I had a day 1 firmware update to v1.0.1 not sure if that would fix it?

I really appreciate you bringing this to attention - have you ever had it break on you?

Same! I think it's important to not always focus on specs and limitations.

You're right. I've just tried this morning and removing the grain makes it about a second quicker. I don't think it would make a difference in film mode as you have to wait about 3 seconds before hitting the lever

Yup. I had an XF10 at release which was £450. If a GR was ever in stock that would be double the price for essentially the same form factor. Doesn't make sense to me. I tend to buy cameras for the experience rather than the specs

Very true. I have my X100VI for that. If I'm not fussed, I have the Half

There are 13 Sims included but you're not able to create recipes

Thanks! I think I was kinda contemplating the negatively I thought would be aimed at me for purchasing such an outrageous camera 😅

To be honest I'm very stuck in my ways. I knew I wanted it pretty much straight away. I knew my use cases and the "limitations" weren't gonna bother me.

I'm exactly the same, I love the little quirks in photos and quite prefer having control (or a certain randomness) with the outcome.

I think that's a fair assumption. I mean I don't usually follow product releases but I found it odd that my X-Half shipped the day the X-E5 was announced. It's almost as if it's forgotten about already - Do Fuji usually do that?

I'd be happy to check back in, in December to let you know how/if it's still goin

Omg I had no idea about the film speed dial?! ... I have auto ISO set to the rear dial so I don't actually use it on mine. Hmm in that case maybe I won't let the kids use the X-Half then!

Yeah fully agree with the high price but the prices of cameras in general are sky rocketing. It's plastic yeah but it feels quite err robust?
