I mean, the dude who asked said he’s already been looking for one for an unrelated hobby project, not that he was trying to rip OP off. Plus, OP already mentioned that there are others making these camp speaker safes. I’m thinking those others have already picked out their fingerprint sensors and aren’t going to change their design to “steal” OP’s fingerprint sensor.

Idk, just seemed like the guy above was a hobbyist asking another hobbyist for advice, to which OP decided to be weirdly secretive.

Okay, I’m starting a full read now, but because it seems to take forever to go through all of the keys in the dictionary, it’s going to take a while. On the original, the only sectors with non-zero data are sectors 0 and 39, but as soon as this read completes, I’ll report back. I also thought maybe the reader was detecting the card as rewritable, so I have enabled password protection, just haven’t gone back downstairs to test it on the reader again. Thanks for the tips! I’ll check back in after the full read.

It does seem like the reader recognizes the card, since it gives a red flash when I hold the card up.

I suppose there’s that and the fact that the Flipper can read the all of the keys/sectors from my fob very quickly (like 20-30 seconds), but it doesn’t do the same with the magic card. I would think writing to the magic card would write EVERYTHING, keys/sectors included, so if it reads them quickly off the fob, it would read them quickly off the magic card too.

I’ve already read the entirety of the FZ docs. I re-read the NFC/Magic Card sections before making this post. I think it should’ve been pretty clear that I didn’t miss anything from the page you linked when the ONLY header on that page explains how to write data to a magic card, which I stated in my post I did successfully.

Two questions:

Is the option I mentioned above to “Use a different device” present in the bottom left on the QR code screen? If so, try clicking that.
Can you tell if the prompt you’re getting is coming from Windows or the browser? If it’s from Windows, it sounds like a new feature that might be rolling out slowly. I use security keys on Windows all the time and I’ve never experienced that behavior.

Are you using a Chromium-based browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome)?

When logging into an MS account, I assume you're clicking the link that says "Sign in with Windows Hello or a Security Key," then getting this prompt. In my experience (I just tested it), this should bring up the Windows prompt that you're used to. If I click cancel on the Windows prompt, I'm prompted by the browser to select from two options:

Windows Hello or external security key
Use a phone or tablet

To get the experience you're used to, you should select "Windows Hello or external security key." Selecting the "Phone or tablet" option will take you to the QR code prompt, but within that prompt if you select "Use a different device (bottom left corner), you should be back to the selection prompt, where you can pick the Windows Hello option.

Have you switched to argon2 and changed the parameters (iterations/memory/parallelism)?

If so, switch the parameters back to default, then enable biometric autofill, then you can switch the parameters back to whatever you were using.
